That baby has no splash on it, but great tufts, so I will say it will be a white Am....

Id say white too but that wasnt one of the options

Doesn't mean it wasn't recessive or undominate color....hey, I have hatched a MOTTLED (pure black & pure white) pullet amweraucana, from Blue ameraucana parents!
Yes, I said MOTTLED!!!

Nice birds!!! I love it when they beg, it's so cute! How old is Sylvia?

Dunno if I gave her the hatch dates.. but Ian and Sylvia were hatched on 29th of October 2010
They are getting prettier and prettier!

Thanks for the date, glad to know that.

Ian's so dark for a splash roo. And his hackle and saddle feathers so brightly colored without being at all yellow, which is a trick indeed.

Right , she didn't sell me any white. Only Wheaten, splash and lav. It is a bit washed out in those pics but it is very pale. It was light grey when it hatched and has since gotten lighter. They hatched on the 10th of April.
Should they have splashes of color by now if it is a splash?
Just saw your answer above. But I posted another Q.

So would a white hatch with yellow fluff? Kinda like a Wheaten? This thing hatched grey.

OK....news flash: The pheasants are due to pip in the next day, 24 hrs, so far nada, BUT the quackers are pipping!!!
wee.gif

Get this::: 2 days early as usual, they must just hatch earlier than most ducks, today is day 22.
So far as I can see, 2 BIG pips.
Well, I am off to eat dinner & go sleepy-bye, it is sooooooooooooooooo nice to have QUIET and not someone constantly following me around talking and talking and talking & I cannot THINK about what I am typing nor doing...my brain is happy with silence, the coyoyes cry, the wind, the soft noise of the breeze.
I got the lumber to finish my green house frame , and will do so tomorrow as I guess it it a no go to Patriot farms as Scott is out of town.
I have to call Weaveagarden in the morning & get her feed order, and then we will go down to get feed Friday, as Scott will be gone til then, per his phone message.
rats, I wanted to go feed run Thursday or tomorrow..but looks like duck soup tonight & tomorrow, a full 3 days early and NO my incubator is not too warm.

Goodnight all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it hatched grey, kind of greyish-yellow, then it is a Lav.
It may be that the color is a wee bit off on your camera (flashout) and so to us it looks white.
The best thing may be to photo the baby during daylight, no flash, or/and/ ask Jean.
wink.png

In this case, I will have to say.mmmmmmm...Lav, but flashout..you can also ask Clover !!

answer is yes, if it was a splash, it would have splashes of light blue-grey on the fledged feathers it has now.
It has no splashes.
And it hatched greay, so it must be a lav, yet looks very white= flash wash out is my guess.
Take another pic tomorrow in natural light.

Goodnight all!!

and yes, white birds hatch with yellow down.
My Buckeyes also hatch with yellow down
lol.png

Blue birds, or lav birds, do not .
They have a grey tint to their down, a yellow-grey/blue.
Look on the Ameraucana Breeders .com page, they show pics of both adults & chicks of different colors..but maybe not lav.

I think she may have mismarked an egg, and you've got a white. In Ameraucanas, a white bird can be yellow as a chick, or gray, it depends on if it's recessive or dominant white, but don't ask me which is which, because I can't remember.

But no, it's not a lav.

One other possibility is that it could be a really light splash. Not all splashes have a lot of color. I have a bantam Ameraucana pullet right now that's a splash, and you can only see her markings if you stretch her wings out, she has about 3 or 4 small spots of color...
