Blue---- Your babies are going into lockdown tomorrow!

My DD and I started vent sexing. We had the Metzer video up and running. It's not quite as hard as we had originally thought! I need a magnifying glass though. Their little wee wees are tiny at 2 days old!!!

Oh and by the way--- YES it was the 4 eggs that were NOT hatching that I let the girls open! We had candled them twice to be sure there was NO movement. There were not any pips or anything on them. I'm not that sick and disgusting!!!

I'm all for education but even I have my limits!!

There is no such thing as worm prevention.
You worm 2 X a year to kill the parasites the birds likely will have, and in between they can and more than likely will, pick up more parasites.
During this time between wormings, there is no preventing more...worm medication is not like a flea collar that hangs around.
You dose it, it hopefully kills everything, and that is that.
there is always a chance of more parasite eggs in the soil (from poop) or new parasites they can come across, like the kind snail carry, for example.
So, the birds are wormed 2X a year. That is my schedule anyways.

That's a good straightforward answer CL. Thank you. I will schedule their dosing accordingly.

Those are muffs, not tufts. Tufts are peculiar to true araucana.

In this case, I will have to say.mmmmmmm...Lav, but flashout..you can also ask Clover !!

I think she may have mismarked an egg, and you've got a white. In Ameraucanas, a white bird can be yellow as a chick, or gray, it depends on if it's recessive or dominant white, but don't ask me which is which, because I can't remember.

But no, it's not a lav.

One other possibility is that it could be a really light splash. Not all splashes have a lot of color. I have a bantam Ameraucana pullet right now that's a splash, and you can only see her markings if you stretch her wings out, she has about 3 or 4 small spots of color...
