We have 1 duckling OUT, black & wet & sleeping.
Then there is 1 zipping, and 3 more pips that I can see, maybe more, NO PHEASANTS

...............Maybe it was me, but I candled & they looked dark, like they contained 'bodies', but maybe was ust the way they are.
I tried to pry pheasant hatching clues out of FiL when he was here, but he was distraught enough where he just didn't want to talk...his mind bouncing around all over the place & on the verge of tears at all times, so I shut up about pheasants.........

Course maybe they were not fertile, but I coulda swore they were...

Those are muffs, not tufts. Tufts are peculiar to true araucana.

They look tufty to me

Funny how some are beardless, and some are not, as chicks.
Some chicks have fantastic pouffy cheeks & beards, and then it all falls out as they fledge & a smaller beard can grow in.
They are funny birds.......

DH just said someone hit an Emu on Ebie (sp?) Island on highway 2..........OMG can you imagine someone hitting an Emu, especially if they had NO IDEA what the heck the thing was ????????
Kind of like hitting a Zebu or antelope or a roo (as in KANGA) on a road out here ??
WTH ???????
Call your DH and tell him: "Honey, I just wrecked the car cuz I hit a Zebra on Highway 2...."

We are working on the greenhouse, and coop, and plucker today.
Tomorrow feed run to Winlock & hopefully meet up with CR & drop off Cast Iron stuff.........
I have to call Weavagarden & get her feed order (see if she needs feed)
So we drop off Jack for his spa day, ad then go to Chehalis & Winlock tomorrow.
ALSO CR:::::::::: DH is searching for a 1/2 horse electric motor with capacitor start...a bench mount grinding wheel looks to be the best, long shaft, able to run a pulley & belt...we are making the plucker a table-top type, not a drum type.

I ordered & sent a check for, 25 chicks in December, from Sandhill.
They cashed the check in days of sending it.
Hope they had a nice Christmas.
In January they sent a letter giving me a delivery date of May 3rd...and telling me that they could not send a full order of the chicks I wanted, as skunks, possums & owls had devastated their flocks.
How the heck that happened..owls flying into a coop & repeatedly killing chickens ?
Skunks & possums too ?

Anyway, I sent them an e-mail as to a few other breeds that could be put in the order in order to make a full shipment as they cannot ship under 25 chicks per box.
No answer, and no answer to the phone messages (6 so far now)

and no answer to the e-mails sent (5 so far now)

Not a peep out of them at all.
I have pleaded with them to know WHAT they are shipping me and WHEN they will ship it so I have brooders ready here.
We are a busy farm too!!!!!!!!!!!!

How do they get off not answering any correspondence.
I seriously am beginning to think they have gone out of business and I will not see my $140 again.

has anyone here on BYC received a letter, e-mail or shipment from Sandhill this year ?????????????????????????????????????

Are they even alive ?????????????????????

Did they get whiped off the face of the earth ???????????????????????????????
Are they living the high life on a tropical island in the Bamas with 2 servants each ??????????????

Never again will I order anything from those people, ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have had 5 months to return my calls...4 of which were during the time they were in deep winter and could NOT have been busy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, back to work for me !!!!
