Adorable! She looks so proud of her ribbon.

My kids both want horses, even though they have only ridden a couple of times. DH hates large animals because he remembers taking care of his sisters pony who was apparently a very foul tempered pony. DS made the honor roll so he gets to go to 2 weeks of horse camp this summer. He had always been a so/so student before the horse camp bribe. Same bribe did not work for DD as she is too young to go to horse camp - must be entering middle school or older to go. Maybe her grades will be good next year.

I hope everyone had a great day, not just Moms iether! Happy Mothers day everyone! But now I gotta go spend some time with MY Mother. lol Talk with you all later!

Well, we had a decent day. Everyone minded their manners...teenagers behaved. Tons of food. Played some dominoes. Then when everyone left. Since everyone left, I was able to do what I wanted to do.....My coop:
Can you say poop boards? Yes they are slanted...didn't start off meaning to do this, but when I say it I thought it might be nice - keep hens from laying in the sand, etc.

And a photo of the few my DS took of me...when I didn't know. I had a glass of wine, one of the dogs relaxing in my lap and I had let Hannah and the babies loose in the yard to graze. I wanted to keep an eye on them.

Oh, the bags of JUNK behind me are the bags of insulation I had to take OUT of the coop because they were infested with mice. Now to get them to the dump. Sorry for the icky in the background.

My town's 4-H club is ONLY horses

otherwise DD would be in it. There is talk about starting something through the local grange.

You should either ask that club if you can start a Poultry Project within their club, or start your own club! Then you can decide if your club is poultry only or multiple projects. My DH is our Poultry Leader, and it's really not hard to do or a big time commitment. Contact your local county extension office and they can send you the info you need to do either.

The Evergreen Fairgrounds in Monroe is another option to show at and it runs from August 25-September 5th. They start with a 4-H show, and then have an Open Class show follow. Here is the Exhibitor Information page: http://www.evergreenfair.org/competitive-exhibitors.asp

4-H
entries close August 1st, Open Class close 8/21
