Actually, if I actually remember to pack my sweater next time, maybe I won't become a grouchy polar bear....

Wow I didn't know selling a horse was so much work??? I cleaned my brooder house and let the chicks out for the 1st time yesterday before all H**& broke lose. Have the other pen with the meaties to do today! I brought my friend over to see my new menagerie and I told her look out, these things are pigs with feathers!! lol!! It's true!!! I really didn't know chickens could be so aggressive at feed time!! I just feel sorry for them really, they can't get around well, that's why I'm going to develop my own meat bird I think. Hey that might be a good topic? What crosses would make a good meat bird, one that puts on decent weight but can walk!!! lol! I would be interested in finding out what others think since they have many more breeds than I do. BTW I've only had one guess on my chicks?? I guess no one wanted to play!!!

What about the original, uncrossed Cornish?

The barn I ride at is in Yelm so I spend lots of time there during the summer:) Although I just got a new horse so we need to get used to each other a bit before we will be doing a bunch, He is an OTTB and very sweet.... I had to sell two horses and it was hard! We still have to build a coop for our chicks so I am hoping to find some plans and get started. My hubby got a bunch of nice wood so we are ready to go:)

I don't know?? I guess that's what their bred for?? Funny how the feed store only sold the crosses?? Does anyone know of someone who raises the straight cornish?? Just curious. These guys will definitely be ready for freezer camp in June, hey BTW anyone heard from Just Bugged lately??

ya know my hatching buddies are making me nervous! lol I have had such a variance in temp in my incubator, from 98.5 -101.9 !!! MY house sucks!!! Trying to find a place where the temp is relatively even is ridiculous!!! I have one more spot I'm thinking about moving to. BF probably won't like it but, I have got to get this regulated before lock down!!!
It's distressing!! I want chickies tooo!!! lol!

Normally selling a horse isnt that hard to do. But this time is the exception. My client is VERY high mantenance, and so is my Step father...

Ive been doing everything for both of them. Setting up the vet check, 3-4 sessions with my trainer, plus taking my Step father out to ride on an almost daily basis. Then theres the fact that my step Father has NO tack, so Im searching for that for him as well, and getting my place ready for a 4th horse. Plus all the chicken activities around here. It all adds up and makes me one tired lady. Most of all selling this horse is mentally draining, as I dont get a break. When my step father quits asking me to do things, then my client emails or calls and the cycle starts all over again. Red "the horse" was having urination issues on Sunday. So we are having that checked out, even though I feel it was only because he had the rear latigo to far back on his groin, and probably made it uncomfortable for poor red to pee. He's been fine since sunday.

It really boils down to the buyer and seller both being high mantenance, as this horse really could sell himself. 11 years old 1300 pounds 16.2hh, gorgeous red roan, 3 months of training with clinton anderson, works cattle, awsome trail horse, packs, leads, highlines, ties, ect... Just a great all around horse, just NOT a show horse as he has the UGLIEST front legs, and is pigeon toed. But none the less a great horse that should be a very easy sale.

Really?? With all that I'm just not seeing a problem here!! wouldn't have to ask me twice!! lol! sounds like a good guy!!! Don't know why people make a bigger deal out of stuff then has to be, get a vet check and be done with it right?? to me it's the trustworthy source of where you would be getting your horse, and if YOU keep your horses well, then your step father and the seller shouldn't have to worry to much!!

exactly! lol I have been taking care of this horse for almost 2 years. He's a great horse, a little pushy on the ground, but thats because he only gets ridden, no in hand work at all. So he is a space invader, but consistant in hand work will take care of that. My client isnt worried about Red coming to stay with me. lol He's actually happy that he will be here with me, because he knows my horses are properly cared for. Only thing I lack here it home is a green pasture... And well with this weather, not many pastures are green where I live. He is definately worth the $2000 asking price, and he needs less work than my Step Dad does!

Ill try to post pics of him tonight after I get back form the barn.

I have ordered Dark Cornish, and yes, many people raise straight Cornish.
They are bred to Rocks, to hatch "rock cornish" and Rock Cornish crosses are a hybred used for meat production, giving bare skin, white feathers and extremely fast growth rate of a butcher date within 6 weeks of hatch or less if you want the "game hens" sold plastic shrink-wrapped in the freezer section of your grocerie store.
