I bought 2 ducks from T-Hi yesterday. Wish me luck. To all who haven't met her, she is so nice, has a lovely home, yard and family. Much thanks to her for giving me the opportunity to come into her home.

I will start with these two ducks and if I have some ease of transition...I will buy 3 more.

I am also interested in Muscovy's , so if anyone has any advice. They aren't illegal in washington are they? I heard some states are banning them because they go wild easily? But they are indigenous to the Americas.. (the Andes) why not north america?

Dang it is cold out there. I was out mending some fence and got too chilly so had to actually come in and get my coat. Have to make a run to town today and then to get feed and then maybe I will have better weather tomorrow.

Hmm, I thought it was just me?? We have 6 mature hens and I'm only getting three a day! you may be on to something!!

I am having the same problem. A few weeks ago I was getting 12-15 eggs a day. Now I'm down to 5-6 a day? Strange....................

I can say that all my new pullets who have been laying for me well, are still laying. It seems to be the older hens who have cut back.

Thanks for the warning. Easier to cope with the day if I don't have to go put cold weather clothes on after I have my boots laced.

I've suddenly stopped getting eggs, too. I thought maybe it was because the darn broodies won't let anyone use the nest box. I've started looking for nests outside the coop.

I have nothing significant to add since only 1 of my 4 girls are laying. The other 3 are apparently just not ready yet, although at least 2 look mature enough. They are big girls, red combs, but so far nothing. Only the light sussex has been laying and lately we were getting an egg every single day from her. But she has been broody for the past 3 days and frankly everyone, DD and DH included, is afraid of her. She's sitting in the nest box, trance like. DH said he saw her go out into the run to eat and drink, but still. We hardly recognize our formerly friendly girl. It's just creepy.
