The dry stuff IS the vaccine, the liquid is just to use to mix it in.
Follow the directions & be ready with syringes and alcohol & keep the big bottle of mixed vaccine in a bowl with ice while you work .
You need small short needles for the birds, and a big needle to mix some of the liquid into the dry little bottle, then shake, then draw it back out & shoot it into the big bottle & shake.
Then draw some out & fill the syring & PUT THE SMALL needle on the syringe to shoot the birds under the skin at the back of the head/neck. Wet with alcohol, it is easy to shoot the needle in at an angle & upwards and squirt in a tiny "bubble" of vaccine.
It hardly takes any time at all.
It is easy.

Ok i always wash my hand, even in between flocks, but, I don't know about you, I violate the last to everyday!!!lol!!!

From what I understand, its done by GPS and they will call him randomly. We are also subject to search at anytime. Hopefully its not in the middle of the night. He does have to plug it in for 2 hours each day. Im just thankfull its only for 10 days.

More no-eggs fussing: do you think the heavy artillary bombardment last night could have caused the hens not to lay?

Of course, heavy artillary and a 15 degree drop in temperature couldn't have been great in combination, I expect.

yes ma'am I understand the vaccine part what bothers me is that I thought it was coming already mixed as in it would last longer than an hour?? does that make sense?? Like I just got goat vaccine, I don't have to mix it and I can draw my how ever many mils and give and put it back in the fridge till next time, with the dry of course, you have to mix it and use it and there goes what 978 vaccines down the drain?? Thank you CL for the instructions I appreciate it!!

I just don't want to waste the rest of the vaccine??? But, I guess I need to find a source for small quantities if that is possible, for now all I could find was the 1000 dose

I'm used to shooting dogs cats and occasional horses, little chicks will be interesting!!

Nope, the birds I bred were pure Blue Ameraucana and pure blue copper marans.
BUTT.....................I hatched out 1 pullet that is MOTTLED (solid black and solid white, NOT a splash at all!) and has tufts, and a tail, not much beard.
The Ameraucana I have are Cree Birds, and I am thinking that they have some araucana popping out here & there.
Who knows??
The Ameraucana was created with the Araucana (all blue egg layers were, even the Cream Legbars) so it can happen.
Get a pic up?

I get one up tomorrow. Or just have one on my phone when I come to meet ya for the bird buy.

So as soon as you open the dry if starts to expire? Yikes. I need to vaccinate, too. I guess I better order the right stuff the first time. That's gonna be scary for me. Never given anything a shot before!

OK so HOW DO I BUST a broody ??? I normally just let em go but since CL says that my crow will set until she starves I guess I need to bust her. We have been pulling her out of nest everytime we go in the coop. She is not very proud of us for that move which may also involve my Elk hide gloves. Once taken out she will come right at ya if you are in the way of her getting back in "HER" nest.
