I was too embarassed to show you just how many I have when you were here! I have OCD when I enter a bead shop. http://bestsmileys.com/hitting/6.gif

Sometimes I host beading workshops here just so I can get more money for chickens now! No longer have much time for beading and the stuff sells better when I have people design their own and I just finish it off for them. Need to do another... I will find a bunco party to attend so I can stick out a stack of invitations! Works well, all the ladies wear the stuff they made to the next bunco and I have more people wanting to attend another beading party!

I would love to come to a beading workshop with you.

Cool, you're invited!

I need to check my kids summer camp schedule - I am sending them to Camp Orkila for a week, darn bill just came through on my CC.

I always thought it would be fun to do a girls slumber party when the kids are away. I have a group of friends and whenever anyone in the group turns 50, they have to rent a cabin for a girls weekend away. It's a lot of fun, and unless you are the birthday girl, it's a cheap vacation!

... but now there are chickens to care for, and I can't just abandon them like I do the beads for a few days.

You notice none of my near neighbors asked that question? Welcome to what's now called the Joint Base Lewis McCord Noise Impact Zone; it's not as bad as it was before they moved the heavy artillary to Yakima, but we get occassional five-hour mortar fire barrages. They were apparently using exploding ordinance Tuesday night, from about 11pm until 2am or so.

Welcome to the sound of freedom, et'c and so on: scares the heck out of my dogs, every time.

and I am even closer to it than you are ....

(several years ago they got their elevations wrong, or something, and several mortars landed right in the middle of downtown Yelm)

our dogs got used to that noise very quickly, they don't even freak on the Fourth

cats ditto (though they did go ballistic when we had the earthquakes)

chicks seem to have gotten used to the airplane and helicopter traffic ( we are about a quarter mile from an air navigation "waypoint" )
though they are still freaked by riding lawnmowers, tractors, chainsaws, and skilsaws

(several neighbors as well as DH, with construction projects of one sort or another -- though they didn't seem to mind my hammering)

We can hear them some times here. Not real loud just kind of muffled in the distance I think somebody said it was the howitzers (sp)

Some howitzers, more of the bigger mobile mortars: they were down south of me on Weir Prairie- maybe 4th Striker Brigade, they've been home long enough to be ready for more training. When I was a kid it was the huge barrage guns that fired from the North Fort and impacted across the river from Yelm on Nisqually Prairie; knocked the dishes out of the cupboard if you didn't push them all the way to the back of the shelves.

I'm right under the flight path for airbourne training: the new chopper pilots come over below their assigned altitude way too often for my taste.

Portland area. Not sure how wide spread but where we will be is the town of Boring at Starr Alpaca farm. It is the second weekend in July.

ETA seems I have a little stuttering problem tonight !!!!

LOL I know where Boring is!! It's only about 30-ish minutes from me, I actually lived there for about a year in junior high!
