I have limited experience but I have ridden several Arabs & Arab mixes, not the breed for me. One I rode reared up on me, granted he was green broke & me about the same but atleast I stuck to the saddle. I grew up with a shetland & loved him. My Aunt in Law has horses up in Tonasket (hope I spelled it right). She had a QH I trully loved. He was green the first time I rode him but if he spooked it was to the side, he was fun. She got into Arabs & we brought my lil sister up there to go riding. I rode the QH & she rode an Arab green but the most worked with. Something spooked the Arab & she took off bucking. My sister went flying of landing flat on her back. My aunt is a nurse & freaked, my sister got put on a board & trucked to the hosp. Luckily nothing but muscle issues. I wish I had been able to buy the QH, I loved him. She sold him so she only has Arabs. I don't trust them & won't ride them. I'll have to save up for one of my own some day, got to get the land first. Half acre won't do it lol.

And kind of like the Jack Russel from across the street, he has Little Cock syndrome! Doesn't realize he's the small guy on the farm. Today he challenged the 2 big Exhibition Orpington cockerals from CGG to a duel through the fence. These 2 are huge, and one is starting to crow. Little Rascal (what Olivia named the bantam) was all stretched out and fluffed up, charging and jumping up at the fence in an attempt to get near eye-level with the big guys. They were leaning down to see him and I swear they were laughing - "Hey Chicken Joe, check out what this little runt does every time I fluff up my neck feathers!" Eventually they bored of the bantam and walked away, much to the dismay of the bantam "Hey, get back here! What's wrong with you two big oafs? Are you chicken?!!!"

I have not named the Orpintons yet, but I think I'm gonna keep them, I saw one of them eat a giant slug today and the other had a mouse! I'm thinking Sirius Black and maybe the smaller one Serius's younger brother Regulus .... just a thought. The kids like the Harry Potter names.

And here is a little quote from http://www.ultimatehorsesite.com for what is the MOST COMMON breed of horse used for bucking stock. Good conformation, strong legs, high spirits, and desire to buck make a horse a good bronco. Most broncs are part draft, which gives them good bone and muscle making them able to jump high, and part QH, appy, or paint to give them heart and a strong will and athletic ability. Many come from generations of bucking horses, so the natural desire to buck is bred in them

BTW The horse Michelle was on when she got her pelvis and wrist broke. Guess what POCO BUENO. And a now deceased friend had the full brother he also had some very bad rides one of which ended up with a shattered elbow. That particular horse had some real anger issues.

I have a blue roo in with black hens that I could collect for you, or if you don't care about color, I also just put my lavender roo back in with the lav girls the other day, so you might get pure lavs, or they would be blue / lav splits....

I hate to admit it but the best horse I have had was Arab / QH. While I don't care for the Arab (I have a different name for them) I will admit that was a very good horse. And then there was my mini. Everybody loved Cubby and I would tell all the neighbors when I was taking him into the arena so we could all gather for lots of good laughs.

Greg,

I really appreciate the advice. I live in Yakima, where we get less than 9" of rain a year. I'm really hoping that I can get away with this 'dry' design. I'm going to continue with the build the way it is, banking on the desert conditions of Central Wa to help me out
