He LOVES them & called them Monkey Balls, as they are loose little balls covered in cinnemon, butter, sugar (I used 1/2 splenda) and chopped walnuts...does look like donut holes.

Good! I printed out the recipe when you posted it, and went to PCC while DD was at her harp lesson last night to get the tapioca starch (forgot the gelatin, but I can get that here). I told her that if you gave it a rave review, I would make it this weekend.

Another recipe I must find for her is for zucchini bread.

We did have very brazen cougars in Idaho, and I am sure some wolverines or some such critter.
We had coyotes that would snatch a chicken right off your front porch in broad daylight and try to chew through heavy hex (1/2") wire & fence wire to get puppies & chickens.
Puppy pen was outside too, along with turkeys & rabbits in hutches.
Cougars enjoyed prowling right around the house, and you have to be careful when going out to start the car early in the morning when ya go to work...especially in winter.

Gotta go, it is get ready time again.

Well, the big stinkys are in Yakima, and I am leaving them behind. we have only ever had one coon in the yard. The bears stay in the mountains and out of our little valley, so do the big cats, thank the lord! What we get is Moose and Deer. And because of the dog, not very often anymore. I just hope all the critters that will eat the chickens, stay away, far, far, away! Never had any possums either, so we'll have to see.

Hello all...
WA4, I thank you for those adorable Banty Birds... The ladies live in the abandoned Banty Yard and are quite happy. The gray/blue gal flies the coop every day and hangs with the Mille's mostly. Or just putts around by herself. She is so sweet and docile. All the birds from you are very gentle. Well, at least to me. The girls picked the heck out of the sweet boy so I put him in a dog crate for a couple of days, now he lives with the chicks that I think are about his age but LF. He doesn't really fit in but he at least has distant cousins to cheep along with. His little chirping is so adorable. I will put him back with the Cochin Trio when he is a little older. Coupla months I guess. How old are the ladies? I get a couple of eggs a day from the three of them.
I just love those newer additions to my Fowl Family.

Glad you are enjoying the birds. Too bad the little guy got pecked on. He will be bigger than them in no time and he will be a beauty too! Our blue cochin roo from that batch has started crowing, so it won't be long for your little guy! The two blue hens you have were hatched last spring, so they are about a year old, the black one was hatched last fall, early November. I still have the cuckoo olive egger roo and a black girlfriend to go with him if you want them, just let me know or the roo will be going in the freezer.

Actually, if anyone want a cuckoo Olive Egger roo, let me know. I hatched out a lot these little olive eggers and I think I have 9 boys to my 5 girls! Unfortunately they will be going into the freezer as soon as they are old enough unless anyone wants one! Unfortunately the girls are all spoken for.

I also think I have two extra Serama roo's available. We are going to keep the 4 girls we have and 2 roo's to make two trio's, but have two extra boys. If anyone is interested let me know and I can try and take pic's of them. These were hatched from RedReiner's roo Larry and the two hen's she got from Jbear, I think one was chocolate and one was black.

I will also have some extra Black Split Orp roo's and a pair of Lav Orps. These range in age from 2-4 wks. I may also have an older trio of Lav Orps available soon that were hatched last August. Have to make more room for the Black Split's to grow out.

Let me know if anyone is interested in any of these and I will put you down on my list!​

Dh's PRK eye surgery went well. He was in the back for all of 20 min's! I was amazed how quick it was. He said it was no problem. But we are to expect the recovery over the next few days to be a bit painful. He has some vicodin, so he should be set!

I just had to run to the store to get him so MORE eye drops. He has 3 prescription drops I got earlier in the week and then they wanted him to have another kind as well! While I was there I had to get biscuits for Monkey Bread because I've been CRAVING it since Robin posted about it!!! I figured DH needs a treat, right?

How exciting that the foundation is framed out and the cement truck is coming! It will all go quickly until the framing is done, then it seems to slow down while all the elec/plumbing/hvac gets roughed in and then the finish work which never seems to end!!!!

Yes! Coons can climb chain link! Run a line of hotwire, and they wont try again though! They are smart little boogers!

Good to know! We already bought the power unit for a hot wire line, just got to get it in!
Guess it will be this weekend since we are to have some beautiful SUN!!!! Supposed to be 80* + Sat. and Sun.!

Yes they can! Had them here until I got my second dog and have seen them climb it many times. They also climb some fence wire that I bought which was called "No Climb". I think they mean kids can't climb it because their feet won't fit it it, but for raccoons it is a ladder. Before I got my big nasty dog, they used climb up the fence and hang out on the trellis above the gate teasing my other big but not so nasty dog. We had 3 fat ones (one with no tail) that would hang out here. The ones we had in Woodinville were evil and killed my cats by coming in through the cat door and dragging my cats out to the deck. DH likes to turn them into speed bumps when he rides is motorcycle (inculding the bike you got CL!). He found lots of temporary speed bumps on Avondale Road. They seem to avoid the roads up here.

So what would be a good height for the wire? I have the stuff to run a double set of lines at 2 different heights. Any advice from the experts?
