A guy that bought one of our rooster said he used diesel fuel, said he sprays the inside of the barn down.

Alex is going to kill me if he finds out I'm posting this, but when we lived in Woodinville when he was about 3 or 4 we lived in a neighborhood will 9 boys all within a year of each other, and no girls other than Olivia who was an infant (The Crossings off Avondale Road for all you Woodinville people). No fences were allowed in the neighborhood, so all the boys would run around like a pack of wild dogs, Any mud puddle, and they would all be in it! The moms would call as they headed from house to house "No snacks, they just raided the neighbors garage freezer of their Otter Pops!" One afternoon I left Don and Alex home while I picked up a friend with a son Alex's age from the airport. As we turned into my street, here comes the pack of boys, Alex included, all of them bare naked and running from the yard across the street. "What is going on here?" my friend was asking kind of shocked as her son was yelling "Stop car! Stop the Car!" As soon as we pulled into the driveway, much to the horror of my way too uptight friend, he jumped out of the car, stripped down, and joined them! The mom from across the street came out from her yard then. She said the boys were playing in the mud and all came up to the house with their grubby little hands all over the porch door an walls wanting wome watermellon. When she saw all the mud, she pulled out the garden hose and started to spray them all down, but she told her 2 sons to strip down, so all the boys did! We did not bother to stop them, it was a hot summer day and they all spent the rest of it running around naked.

Thanks for answering. It makes sense that they would use permethrin. Do I need to toss the eggs the hens lay for 2 weeks afterward, then?

I never have.
I also have a dust bath (in a home depot tub $8 each) in every coop with half a bag of sand, 2 feed scoops of DE, and 1/2 can of poultry dust, mixed up for the birds to dust themselves, and inside, so they stay dry.
Clean poops or shavings out every few days with a cat pan spoon, toss poops in a 5 gallon bucket.

My concern is that we're not supposed to breathe DE anyway (although how can you not when it's being tossed into the coop?!), Permethrin is a category B for pregnancy. I'll prob have to have DH do the applications.

Speaking of food grade DE, pick it up at the Grange or some other place. I just saw it at ACE; a 5 ounce container was $10.99!!!!!!!! I don't think I paid much more than that for 50 pounds!

.... and speaking of pregnancy, I think you will soon be required to post baby belly shots as well

I have DH do the dusting. I use the Sevin Dust & food-grade DE. After the coops are stripped, DH sprinkles the SEVIN & DE all over each coop, the walls, roosts, nest boxes (which are also stripped.) I let that sit for a while and then put the birds back in.

I am back.

The nurse couldn't find any viable veins on my arms so she had to draw the blood out of my hand.

I chose the "fruit punch" stuff. It was very similar to fruit punch Gatorade but more sugary. It made me a little sick-feeling and kind of dizzy...but not too bad. I won't know the results until tomorrow...

On another note--the doctor said that the baby is measuring about 2 weeks' ahead of schedule and if she stays on the current growth pattern she's on (at 4oz per week) until due day--she should be close to 8lbs!

He said 7lbs, 10oz

He told me 8/16/2011 would be the c-section!

Oh and he wants me on one 81mg "baby" aspirin every day now and told me NO I cannot travel to Eugene next weekend to see my youngest sister graduate from college.

Too long in the car and too far away should something happen....(like going into pre-mature) labor.
