Looks nice. It is also very nice of you to add certain amenities such as the radio. May I ask what their favorite station is? Are they into modern or pop, maybe country or classical? I would not let them have a computer though as they would probably poop on the keys.

Give him a chance to sleep on it. Maybe he'll calm down. Tell him it's your hormones.

I hate to say it, but he does have a point re the feeding and watering while you're caring for the baby, and re the working on the nursery instead of the coops.

Except, he moved in an 18 year old boy from school (he's a teacher) and took pity on this kid--so for the last 6 months, we've been housing this kid in the nursery and I because I'm in charge of the grocery budget, I was paying for him to eat. And let me tell you this kid could eat! DH did get him moved to Spokane last weekend so he's gone now--but that's the REAL reason the nursery has been the same since early winter--because it was occupied and not because I really had anything to do with it.

And as for the feeding/watering--maybe he does have a small point...but he still be starting work two weeks after the baby is born. He refuses to take any time off at all. Even though he's got 7 months of sick leave or some ridiculous amount saved up...so basically as soon as I'm physically able to feed/water everything, I will have to because he will not be around. We also have his in-laws who live across the horse pasture and have already said they'll be here whenever we need them...and my mom and one of my sisters is coming up for an entire month after the baby gets here....so all is not lost....

I do hope that DH changes his mind. Maybe he will calm down and will understand and let you keep everyone. How much harder is it to feed/water one more pen of a few birds. I just don't think it is. . Also, use the hormones as an excuse and also what I always say: This is my one hobby that I really have time to do - let me have it. YOU (my DH) has - archery, fishing, motorcycles - which he does all of regularly.

Please note that I PMd you

I dig the radio! What do your birds prefer to listen to? I usually have the Mariners on when I'm out by my coops. I drag a big shop radio out there. Last week when we were planting the tree, I had the radio close so the boys could hear the game. I walked out to the coop and carried back my best bird to show the ladies. On our way back to the coop, the bird refused to walk away from the radio until I turned it off. Then she promptly followed me the rest of the way 'home'.

I used to have radios everywhere in the garden, my husband buys them at garage sales and we have a nonsensical number. The traffic noise has gotten so bad I can't hear them in what used to be the lower garden, and I'm to broken to keep up with it, anyway, and now I'm in and out up here and keep killing batteries because I forget to turn them off!

Good grief. The whole rest of the country's sweltering, and we've got these temps! Hay's drying at least, I guess that's all we can rejoice in.

Yes you did, but it was after I had already ordered.....
sad.png

I got Linda on the phone yesterday, and it took her quite a while to find my order...Glenn was out in the field as usual.
She looked all through the May shipping books & could not find it.
She looked all over & finally found it tucked in another book...and read it to me, 25 Buckeyes, which she said (again) that their flocks were devastated by skunks, owls & possums, and so they were unable to send a full shipment of Bucks.
So I had subsituted some blue cayuga ducks to fill the order providing half were Buckeyes, but she said the Bucks in what is left of their flock are not laying at all.
(I do not think they have any left at all)

The "devastation done in January...in Ohio, IN JANUARY!!!
How did owls & the rest do so much damage in Januray in Ohio???
somad.gif

he.gif

Skunks & possums are hibernating!!!!!!!!!!
Owls only fly at night when birds are in coops & roosting..INDOORS!!!
somad.gif

So anyways...they then just set my order aside and did NOTHING!!!!!!!
They never returned my 6 phone messages, they never returned my 10 e-mails...they were waiting for what ?
New chicks would have been laying by now!!!
somad.gif

I was nice about it all, she asked if I would like another subsitute ?
I felt so angry I wanted to ask her "Just when exactly were you going to answer my messages & let me know there were no Buckeyes ?
Next spring?"
somad.gif

Anyway
I said no, not at this late date I already have ordered from elsewhere..so she is sending my money back and every penny better be there.
No keeping of 25% to cancel my order THEY were unable to fill.
Curious why they still have Buckeye on their catalog list even now ????
How many people are sitting around wondering where the heck their order is ??????????

ya know I have to say something here, we have a friend who lives in Boise and drives truck, he comes through frequently and we have been giving him a few dozen eggs when he comes through, the first time he had our eggs he freaked!! He said, "those eggs didn't last two days in my house"!! They were so good and the yokes were an amazing color and my wife loves them!!! So now we agreed on 2.50 a dozen and he said there is NO WAY store bought eggs come close to these, beside he said, I have seen where they come from and what you feed your hens!! I thought that was cool, but, its just so true!! Nothing beats fresh eggs!!!

My daughter's boyfriend describes the ones I gave him as "supremely edible."

I also did not add any of the 'bad' stuff commercial eggs DO have: Hormones, antibiotics and so on.
The abundance of vitamin D in free range eggs is almost nothing in commercial eggs, something like .0002 % instead of the 4 to 6 X free range eggs we have.

And they TASTE BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I guess I better go get some work done.
I still cannot figure out what is blooming that is giving me such awful allergies...the floaty cottonwood is not pollen, it is seeds floating around.
Seeds do not cause allergies, so what is it???
Lots of grasses with tall tufts emerging must be it.
But in all the decades of living here, I have never had any allergies, ever.
Millions of cottonwood in NorCal and I never had any allergies....except during the drying heat of summer, and then it was really bad.
That was when I found out afrin caused an immunal reaction and I had to go on prednisone for a week to calm the allergic reaction (to the afrin) down..it was HELL !
The allergy to pollen went way out of control to sinus infection since I had to stop the afrin & go on prednisone.
No afrin for me

Javas and tiny yellow Nankins hatching out....so tiny!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's so bad I saw people locally that normally put in some nice hay. They were makin green chop of it yesterday.

Yes the blowing cotton can cause allergies. There are also so many other sources of bee food that we never see or think of. Like a week or two ago it was the pine tree in my front yard. A gentle breeze and it looked like a yellow dust storm.

Nice coop! They will appreciate the big picture window! Mine squabble over the "window seats" in my coop, well, all except the BCM who goes to bed earlier than anyone else and always chooses the end of the roost that is right up against the juvenile pen. She often sits sideways on the roost and bull-dozes anyone who gets too close.

The big covered area is great too, keep them from baking in all that sun that I hope is on its way!
