I'm traveling to Leavenworth the last weekend of July - the 29th - 31st? If we could put together a deal to make connections along the way I could get him from Tacoma to east of the mountains.

I am willing to drive him to Tacoma. Anyone heading further east around that time??

Also, Jean has an ad on CL, we'll see if we get any bites there too...Thank you!!!!

hey--lemme know how that works.. because of my cats and especially Farm Cat who is a Great Huntress, I DO NOT want to put out bait anywhere, not even in the shop which is completely closed off to the cats. There was a rat last summer in my garden that had been poisoned by one of the neighbors. I totally could pick it up it was so dazed. If Liger had found that, she would have chomped it right down and been a very sick cat.

My feeder is rather tall and narrow and easier to tip than the big metal or 5 gallon bucket ones, so I used a little something from the house. It's called Quake Putty (aka Museum putty). I bought it at Lowes or HomeDepot after the last quake that shook our house enough to get my attention. It's like ultra super sticky silly putty or floral putty. It's original purpose was securing fragile items to a shelf in case of a quake. It's used in museums, too. Anyway, I have my feeder sitting on top of a 4x6 and I put a wad of the quake putty on the bottom of the feeder to keep it from getting knocked off. It works very well. It definitely fits into the "easy" category.

We have lots of rocks. We use them a lot. Maybe a big rock would work.

I don't think it's your connection. Rare Feathers and I have the same problem. All the other sites work fine. Just BYC isn't doing too well. Just keep clicking. It will finally go with out showing the bad connection page.

Same here - seems better now. I tried responding to several posts in the past 2 days and then just gave up because it took forever for anything to load, and then half the time I got a connection error.

We are on Centurylink... 99% of the time they are wonderful. We knew it wasn't us, the traceroute I did showed the issue was a connection somewhere closer to the main server the website is housed on. Glad to be back!

I also have Century Link. Sometimes I go down, but their staff is always helpful and polite, unlike Comcast. Comcast back charged us 6 months for a peice of equipment that we requested but were never given. When I called them about it, they said they would have to come out and verify and there would be a charge for a service call, even if they just verified that we did not have the equipment. I told them to save themselves the trip, cancelled our contract, brought all their equipment to their offices and dumped it on the receptionists desk. We have not had TV since (that was in 2006). We won't use Comcast ever again. We tried Dish a few years before that, but it went out whenever there was snow, high winds, or heavy rains. Out here it means they were down half the time but they still charge full price for half the service.

I've not had any BYC access trouble in the last few weeks. I have Quest DSL.

The little farm is a great deal enough for me for sure. We have the coop floor done, 3 walls up. We purchased the rest of the needed materials and hope to get most of it completed this weekend. Woot! Da chicks will me most happy indeed to get outta the garage! The veggies are doing ok, well, the ones that the slugs left. We needs more of that bright shuny orby thinger to come pay visits more often. my 108 tomato plants would like to request more sun for the rest of the year, the 125 squash plants agree, and the 125 peppers in the glass greenhouse, demand it!

I havnt even bothered to start a garden this year. I let the chicens have at it. there is still some rosemary, parsley, chives, ect. But they are all resprouts from last years plantings.

I have 4 celery plants and 2 cabbage planted this year that are doing fine. Chickens shredded the other 4 cabbage. They also ate all my strawberries, even though they were all green! I thought I had until they reddened to cover them up. They ignored even the ripe berries last year! Other than that I have chives, chocolate mint, rosemary, sage, cat nip, oregano and marjoram from last year and in my green house my maters, tomatillos, cucumbers, squash and egg plants are waiting for warmer weather. The cochins stripped most of the leaves from both my Thai and Italian basil, and all my pepper plants too. I'm going to seed a few flats of basil and lettuce tomorrow. I'm keeping most of my seed for next year.

I went to the NB Farmer's market today and bought 2 flats of strawberries for making jam. When I made jam from store-bought strawberries, no one liked it. These smell awesome, though she said her best jamming berries won't be ready for about 2 weeks. I got my dim sum happy meal. I intend to try the other food vendors as well, but I so crave that sticky rice steamed with mushrooms and chicken in lotus leaves. I meant to buy gluten free pasta, but $14 per ound is pretty steep and when I went back to my lawn chair to listen to the band and contemplate spending that much on noodles, a big dark coud came overhead and dumped on everyone. A bunch of us saw the ominous cloud roll in, so we hurriedly packed up our things and ran for our cars. I did not waste $ on pasta.

I like my rat zapper. It's pricey but the batteries will last 2 years or 40 rats. No poison, no half-dead rats running off with a spring trap, and no dealing with a like rat stuck to the gluey thing. Quick, easy, clean, non-toxic, and hopefully humane.
