so I wonder how ticked Rosalee is gonna be at me when I steal her eggs. She has hidden and gone broody...I found her. do not need anymore serama babies. Larry is devastated as he has no wives to snuggle with at night now. so much so that I found him on the orpington roost snuggled up to Priss the splash orp. Hoss right on the other side. Larry has his own special roost up higher than anyone else. I saw him walking around with his tail stuck out behind him instead of straight up. Juliette has her babies and attacks anyone that gets close, Rosalee went and hid...so I am going to take her eggs and send her back outside

OK One last time to make it clear I will not be selling any of these bees before next spring. The reason is that they are late getting started, need drawn comb and maybe to borrow some brood. Plus I have enough hives here now that I can combine some if needed to help them make it to spring.

RW that was a lot of good info you found. Also as for having a "small hive". There really isn't such thing. See the bees need 2 deep boxes full of brood and honey to make it through the winter. Then if you want honey you add honey supers. And yes if you want your own honey you need a hive. You might also want to look into top bar hives. I do't know much about them but am now considering trying one.

Very nice.
I used homemade earthboxes last year. I brought two boxes in (one box with bells and one box with jalapenos) into the house over winter each had four plants. My jalapenos have gone crazy and some are getting ready to turn red. It is very nice to have peppers so early. I need a green house. How do you deal with aphids? Do you buy ladybugs?

Well, DD and I certainly had an interesting day.

My friend had purchased 3 tickets for us to go to the gem show at the Seattle Center with her. We did not know that there was a gay pride celebration going on at the same time. We parked the car and were walking toward Seattle Center wondering why so many people who looked like they were fresh off the pages of peopleofwalmart.com were headed to the gem show. We did not know where the exhibition hall was so we figured we'd just follow the crowds. OMG! I'm all for diversity, and it does not bother me to have Olivia see people in flamboyant costumes, couples holding hands, or scantily clad cross dressers. Most of what we saw there was fine, and Olivia wouldn't understand what any of the T-shirts read, but there were several men in NOTHING at all but strategically applied body paint!!!! I did NOT want Olivia to see that. Nobody should have to see that in public! I don't think I would have felt offended had they just been walking around naked, but the find the body paint far more obscene when someone has painted his parts to look like a candy cane! Unfortunately it was my daughter who noticed the painted men while Diane and I were looking at a marquis trying to figure out where the exhibition hall was.
