What are the GORGEOUS blue flowers in the foreground?!

Wow, thanks for pointing those out, they look like Phacelia tanecetafolia, which I had self-seeding here for years until the peach tree shaded them out.

(I really need to get rid of that geriatric un-fruitful peach tree).

My garden is doing so well, I don't have much to do but sit back and watch it grow.
Only thing disapointing is the snow peas, they are growing just wonderfully, BUT the constant rain & windy days have made them heavy enough to inhibit heir ability to grab & hang onto the netting.
So now they are slumped, all intertwined, and it will make harvesting peas difficult.
I will go take some pics right now & show you.

It's such good news that ther's "unwanted" bees again- so many years there were no bees at all, it seemed.

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on the skunk!!! Blech! I'm gagging just thinking about it. After we built our house, twice, we had a skunk decide to just hang out under our front porch. Man it was awful. Both times he went on his merry way but you could taste it and the poor dogs were going nuts. What does Jack think of it all?

I'm very very envious of all these big veggies. My garden is looking pretty darn shabby in comparison. I'm going to be trying some of these hoop houses next spring for sure!

Yesterday DH and I were very productive, and fenced in a much larger area next to one of the Orp pens so they can free range more. I'm so nervous to let the breeder birds out with all the coyotes/bob cats we've had around here as we are wide open with no fencing. We also shuffled the birds around, so our big black Roo Baxter now has his one blue and 2 black ladies back with him. We moved the meanie Lav rooster into the tiny coop by himself and he will be going into the freezer soon, and our favorite Lav rooster is back with his 3 lav ladies. Baxter has the big new free range area beside his run. Next weekend we are going to build a small Serama coop. When it is done we will fence in another huge area for the Lav Orp pen and the Serama's Coop will go at the end of it.

We also hatched out 3 new Baxter babies overnight, one more is zipping, one more is pipped. I can't really see the 6th egg very well as I put these back in the Brinsea to hatch. So far 2 blue and 1 black.

CL - At least you've got peas.

My only peas are grown outside in our new (and huge) raised beds, and, umm, it hasn't been very rainy here at all in the past couple months, so the peas are about 3 inches tall and have been for months.

I think some of the parthogenic greenhouse varieties are centuries old- and no more unnatural than the bigeneric hybrids that made wheat and corn.

Humans change the world, it's what we do.

Huh. I sent DD and friends off to Seattle to attend Pride and although I saw a few photos of the parade she didn't happen to mention painted costuming. I'll have to ask her about that.
So did you get any jewels while you at the gem show? Yesterday was certainly the day for glitz and sparkly things in Seattle I guess.

I'm curious what cucumbers are then?

I've seen a few posts recently about folks being allergic to bee stings. My father was allergic so we all learned quite a bit about it.

Chances are -- very high -- that a person will not have any harsh reactions to a honey bee sting. The vast, vast majority of folks allergic to 'bees' are really allergic to wasps and/or hornets. Your Dr. can preform a simple skin test to determine if you are truly allergic to honey bees.

My mom is particularly allergic to honey bees. Wasps she doesn't know, but won't take the rest. Bumble or other bees she also doesn't know of (how serious it is). She's taken tests and in her earlier years was once stung by one, and went to the hospital because of it.
