Im looking forward to seeing the icelandics too! Ive been folowing "The Wardens" thread on them sence she started it! Love those chickens! Some day I will have another coop and LARGE high pen. They lie to fly, and are escape artists! Ive been tempted to order eggs, but not until I get rid of the extra cockerals.

Never did make it out to deliver these darned boys to the people who want them. Oh well. If I cant make it out there before the 4th, then they can just take them home when they leave here on the 5th!

Already have temporary board situated for all 5 horses. They will be leaving on the 3rd, as we blow up my mothers pasture on the 4th!
woot.gif
Always a blast and a HUGE turnout. This year will be more work, as my sister has decided to hold games for the 20+ some odd kids that will be here.

W are expecting upwards of 75 adults, and 20+ kids to show up and camp out!

When you want Icelandics, let me know, I have Warden babies & a new hatch on July 11th.
LOVE all the colors, it is confusing and brain cramping since we are so used to having APA 'standards" of "type & color & body type"
Icelandics blow all that away in a heartbeat.
I am deciding to give my Nankin to CR, as he has Bantams and my LF chicks are bowling the Nany over.

We have $18,000 worth of solar panels on our home in NorCal...rented out of course, up for sale for a year now....
hmm.png

I have threatened driving down & ripping the entire grid system off the roof & bringing it up here, but we will just get more here.
All our family down there has solar panels, and the reward is over 10%, in other words, the same money in the bank rewards you with 3-4% interest at best...and the amount you save in electrical bills is way way way more.
In other words, the power bill in Calif at $300 a month for example, and the interet in the savings account is $45.
So the money makes more money on the roof, rather in the bank.
Up here, it will depend on deep cloudiness.
Our panels in NorCal work better on an overcast day, there is more UV, and less heat.
heat is not good.
Magnified UV is good.
So the panels may yeild well here on the coast
lol.png

Wanna see pics of the solar panels ???
Just say the word.
Otherwise I will not bother you with them.

I've tried for years to get a photovoltaic array and a solar hot water heater going- we use a lot of electricity year-around, and if we start irrigating pasture again, a photovoltaic array big enough to power the pump would pay for itself in about a week. The water-heater would be even more cost efficient and the figures I'm working from, from a friend's long-ago college research project based on actual weather observation onsite, say that it would provide an average of 25% of hotwater in December, and infinitely more than we use from March to October.

I want to get a small photovoltaic fence charger or two, and a photovoltaic array big enough to power about 1000watts of lights when I get the barn straightened out. We shall see if I can wrangle it.

I think that stuff gets in your hair
sickbyc.gif
and then you carry the smell around with you--yuck
I had to deal with the same situation but husdand gone on trip to get more of our stuff to move. all I had was a pellet gun all that would do was make the situation worse. so I threw a dark green tarp over the trap and by the end of the day he was kaput... the heat got him.
It was a little mean but it had just bit the heads off of 8 of my chicks the night before.

And our van was parked 5 feet away from the trap...and now it stinks inside & the outside smells as if we ran over a skunk ?????????
The soil bellow the trap was covered with the bright yellow skunk spray....I had to go cover it with a hunk of rubber pond liner left over from the fish farm daze in california.
Love EDPM.
Now I am burning incense~~~~~~~~
sickbyc.gif

Had a woman come & buy LF Lemon Blue Cochins, and for some reason we women could not understand, DH waved up her, right next to the trap site.
sickbyc.gif

Poor Gracie got out & stifled gags as we put birds in her tuck...and talked.
Of course she was from Onalaska, where, she said, it was dry & sunny.
here it was raining.....so between rain & gagging stink...she will more than likely never return......

the fish ponds are to the lower right, covered by bird net due to kin fishers...ponds connected to filer boxes did not have sufficient nitrogen to sustain floating plants, I tired that.
In order to have sufficient nitrogen in the filter bath, that would kill the fish.
You need a really nasty fish to live in such water that would sustain plant life.
Although water plants did well, such as Cress.
Most plants we like to eat, like tomatoes, do not like alot of mositure, unless you go to genetically engineered ""Geen House"" varieties.
These plants, do not like their feet wet: Tomatoes, squash, pumpkins, etc.
Their roots need air.
