Oh, the one on Fremont was pretty cool too. It's funny, those guys had the neatest backyard, including a separate covered deck area for parties, and a huge rabbit hutch - but their own house was in desperate need of a paint job.

We have still been pretty cool here. Most days in the mid-60's, a few cooler, not breaking 60, a half dozen or so in the 70's and a couple in the 80's. Not sure what it will be today, but I think it will warm up a bit. I'm going to fence my garden better. Darn chickens just killed my zucchini and strawberrys again, and ater all the bean plants. Grrr. 4' is too short. going for 7' deer fencing today, but what do I use for posts?

Drove the kids to seattle early this am and they are probably on the ferry now on their way to Orcas Island for the week. Anyone want to come over for the day (or slumber party ... I'm doing a thorough cleaning of the kids rooms!), PM me we can do beading or go get fruit and make jam. I'm going to try and make about 50 jars of strawberry and raspberry to keep the boy fed for the year. He's taller than Dad now!

so were are you getting the strawberrys at? I want to do jam and not sure if there are any left now?

I've been buying them at the Farmers Market from ... I forgot her name, . She sells day olds at half price, grown organically. last time I only had 2 bead berries., and she threw in an extra half flat. 2 half flats = 20 cups of berries once I've cleaned and sliced them. Sometimes I pick at a farm in Carnation. I need to look them up. The gal at the Farmers market grows near La Conner, and her best jamm berries are yet to ripen.

That happened to a dog I had, and the vet placed 2 thin peices of plastic on either side of the ear, and sewed it together, flattened right out.
The suture sticks pop the fliud/air out. Caused by a blow to the ear.
Betadine it good, and apply triple antibiotic ointment, then sew

Then hope he doesn't scratch it off, need a elizabethan type collar...

June bearing are still going..at least mine are.
After that, whoever has Everbearing varieties will still have some.
I am freezing strawberries, and adding raspberries when they are ready..into a plastic container in the freezer.
When full, I pop the berry cube out & put in a ziplock, and start again.
I have 4-5 big berry blocks so far.
When the blackberries are ready, I will keep going with them the same way.
This way, I can make jam, cobbler or shortcake all winter YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!

Oh yeah, the Cobbler's children go shoeless....
I had a woman stop here a week ago to buy some birds...and she noticed the big foundation & I explained we are building our house.
"You have no house yet but chicken coops were more important?" she laughed.
I said:
When I came here, I actually had 6 rabbits, and a horde of chickens.
"Oh" she replied.
I had to build coops fast.
Driving through CA, OR & into WA with a van full of rabbits, dog & chickens was interesting...a trailer full of hutches (buns were in dog crates in the van)
In Oregon, you cannot fill your own gas tank.
The attendant has to do it.
So we sat there.
And let the guy fill our tank........

And the roosters were crowing, and a few hens decided it was time to sing the egg song...we acted like we did not hear it.

And everyone in the gas station was looking around to see where all the chickens were..........
