I want to forwarn you! These people do not raise these birds themselves, they are hatchery birds. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just dont let yourself be fooled. Where in the puget sound are you located? I have some pullets that I would be willing to let go, but they are a couple months from laying. I also have a mature hen that I am not particularly fond of. My best guess is that she is a hatchery dellaware. "sp?" She lays light brown eggs, and is flighty, no where near as friendly as her flock mates.
Hi Cheryl,
I'm not too far from you, in CK. My EE is sort of flighty, too, I don't think another one would be a good thing. I work with her almost everyday to try to get her to relax. I think it's working. What breed are your pullets? A friend suggested that I stagger the age of my flock so they don't all reach "old age" at the same time, so younger might be better. Not that a few months is much of a difference, huh? That's partly why I'm undecided. (Using the word "flock" to describe 3 chickens makes me laugh!!!)
