Shhh dont tell my DH. But if Pearl turns out to be a jersey giant, I'll trade ya a Blue or black Ameraucana for her! Ive always liked BIG chickens, but havn't been able to locate any Jerseys locally.

That might work, but my DH keeps telling me that once I've had her that long I'll never want to let her go. She's a REAL Sweetheart. I guess I'll know if it's a JG when she hits 10 or 11 pounds, right???

lol yeah that would be my clue!

Hey Helaine,
Are your giants laying yet? How old are they when they begin to lay? Pearl is getting close to 6 months, I think, and I'm anxious to see what she lays.

I just looked up some info. about JGs versus Black Australorps. Says JGs have yellow feet, which Pearl does have.
RareFeathers suggested Sumatra, but from the pictures she posted, what comb they have is black. Pearl's is definitely red and getting bigger.

DH and I ate lunch at Jay Berry's in town yesterday. The wiat staff there all wear t-shirts with sayings on the back, all pertaining to unsupervised kids (similar signs hang on the walls).

"Unsupervised children will be given espresso and a free puppy"

or

"Children left running will be towed away at the owners expense"

Oh I like that. I should put up a sign at my booth Unsupervised children will be give a free goat. But I think out here they would all stay for the free goat..

I'm thinking cockerals

I am assuming it's okay that my cockerels will eat layer feed when the time comes, or should I not feed layer feed, and give oyster shell on the side?

Much better.

Howdy folks!
I'm getting ready for my trip and am selling some birdies....

I have 3 Buckeye's pure from show stock
I think I have either 3 pullets or 2 pullets 1 cockerel.

They are my friendliest birds but I think we are gonna go towards Blue and Green egg layers.

Will post photos if anyone is interested.

I also have roosters... lots of them....
I will be culling them tomorrow so let me know if you want one....

Easter Egger x Brown Leghorn
Easter egger x Buff Orpington
Easter egger x Barred rock
Buff Orpington x White leghorn (many)
and 1 bantam cochin x white leghorn

Great pics! That was a pretty good sized coop tour - the one in Tacoma only featured 9 coops. Thank you for sharing the photos.

I read somewhere that it is fine for the cockerel to eat whatever the girls eat. Unless I hear differently that's what mine is getting! My older girls need the calcium that is in the feed AND I put out oyster shell and they eat that too. They eat it more now than they did when they were younger.

Ok, I am going to share some pics too!
My Wheaten Ameraucana cockerel, Maximus, or Max as we call him. He is from CL. Getting to be a very handsome boy. And he is starting to take very good care of his girls. Pretty fun to watch.

My Splash OE, Lulubelle, also from CL. See how pretty she's gotten CL?

My pretty little speckled Sussex, Picca. She is my friendliest by far. Jumps right up in my lap or on my back or whereever she can get to.

My three older girls, Ginger(Orp), Lucy(SL), Charly(BR), all wanting to know if I have any good treats. I didn't but it made for a good photo op.

My two EE's, Princess Lily and Maggie Mae, wouldn't come out into the open for their photo op. Maybe next time!
