Keep saying that cause 9 mths of grey, 61* and rain in July is kinda irritating after being raised in CA!

Broody what part of CA are ya from ?

I was born in Walnut Creek. Stepdad was an army recruiter so we moved to a new town each year just about. So we were all over the San Joaquin valley. Modesto, Oakdale, Turlock, Merced, Stockton and in Fresno with my real dad from time to time. We did Thanksgiving in San Jose with my great Uncle. Spent a summer in Danville with a friend when I was 13. If I had to go back I'd probobly stick to the north like Shasta area. Too much city life as a kid, too many people!

A couple of those look like waterers. 20 is a good price I think.

How can you tell the difference? Sorry for the dumb question, lol.

the waterers have an enclosed top to prevent air getting in and all the water will then come out.
Enclosed makes a vacuum, so the water comes out only when the birds need it, like an Alhambra dispenser...a big bubble of air will go up, water dribbles out.

Oh boy it gets hot there!!
I remember going camping in Yosemite one year, 110 degrees...and suddenly a bunch of T-heads came over & it hailed golf balls for 15 minutes...busted up our camp & tent.
We camped at Whiskeytown & it hailed there too, hotter than hell itself.
You had to be IN the water or else shrivel from the heat.
Hate heat.
I am so happy I live here!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot about Sanger. I had a pony named Shotgun. We were on a large farm with all sorts of animals. The farm at Sanger is probably what fostered a love of animals and farming in me. Would love to have a farm some day. But for now I am content with 5 acres of trees and chickens.

We had 100-110* a lot but it was dry heat. Not like those poor folks in the south who get that and the humidity!
I moved here when my mom died, I was 15. As kids we didn't seem to mind the heat as much.
Now, 80-85* and I'm good.
We had this AWESOME camping spot we used to go to all the time. Somewhere in the Sugar Pine area I think. It had a natural rock water slide area that dumped off into a large pool! As long as you didn't mind algae up your rear end, it was cool and refreshing! It was a clear water spring. So pretty!

Nope, no leghorn's over here!!! The only white egg layer I have is one single polish lady.

We have the Icelandics for white eggs, and funny how each and every one of them is different.....
A fun flock to have is a mixed flock: One or two of all:
Cuckoo, blue copper, black copper marans, buff, white, partridge and barred Plymouth Rocks, a few polish, a few Ameraucanas, a few Spitz..and Icelandics.
A feast for the eyes and the egg basket.
I am sure you would have to have some BLRW and Lav W's in there as well>>>>what a yummy flock that would be....Oh, do not forget these gorgeous Buckeye, and Javas.

I was just 'talking' to a fellow Buckeye breeder, and told him the same thing as I will tell you:
Eight Buckeyes in a coop with fresh pasture grasses are eating 2-3 cups of feed a week, if that.
They are fantastic browsers!!

A white egg in a basket of colored eggs helps to make the other colors POP IMO.
Notice I said 'A white egg' meaning one, easily borrowed from a neighbor at picture time!

EXACTLY!!!! That's why I only have the one polish lady!!!!

The best 'pop' is white, green, blue, green/blue, pink w/speckles & dark brown

I have so many egg customers that I cannot keep up with the orders.
Yes, orders.
One wants 2 doz on Friday, and another wants 3 doz on Thursday, the bar & Grill wants 5 doz a week, if not more.
We have had to go to the store & buy nasty white commercial eggs on sale for 99 cents, for us to have some for baking!!

About canning supplies:::

This from myself, a master canner:::

The best place to get canning jars, has been the Salvation Army or other second hand stores.
Make sure no chipped rims.
The Hardware or local mercantile sell great amounts of other canning needs from canning pots to funnels, lids, pectin etc, check out the summer sizzle ad at Dennis Company.com
Ace, and True Value & sometimes feed stores, have great sales on lids.
I have bought cases of jars at garage sales, estate sales.
I have thousands of jars, and no I am not Sharon
