Wow.... you are SO ahead of the game.

When my little one showed up we were staying in the neighbor's guest room, we had no crib for her, just an empty laundry basket! The carpet guys that were working on our house took pity on her and gave us a piece of their "premium" carpet pad for the basket! When we finally got into the house she had to sleep on the hide-a-bed for about a week! I wonder if that explains her depression when she hit 20!

Sorry to hear you're having rough times now though. Take care, take a nice relaxing bath, and think happy thoughts! This too shall pass.

I bit the bullet and sent a message to the homeowner. If she vetoes my request, I guess I'm out of luck until we/I can buy a house. That won't happen anytime soon, so I hope she goes for it.

I know!! There are few things still on my "list" that I would like....like a baby food processor....bottles, a bottle warmer...any/all Abby's Farm nursery decorations....Yes, I'm planning to breast feed (pump) but feed with a bottle in hopes of making a better transition for when she has to start daycare.

I have two nice little Buff Geese that need a new home. They are Holdrread's stock...sweet & cute. I think they are both females--both are the same size and both are a little timid....

I noticed tonight that the largest African baby is getting a DEWLAP!

It's too cute! I'm hoping I have a trio of those....

We do have a Baby Bullet (brand new never been open) and a Breast pump that looks like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/MEDELA-PUMP-STY...ultDomain_0&hash=item3a680c6d5d#ht_803wt_1185 If you are interested let me know and I will let you know what we what for them.

Where is the best site for information on orpingtons? I want to learn more. I had two sites bookmarked and I can not seem to get either of them to work/load. I am looking for information on the breeds - pros and cons. I also want to know standards, etc. Looking to learn.

BTW: If anyone wants a buff orpington roo, I have 8. I now have all my little cockerels in a seperate pen to fatten up. I have seperated the boys from the girls. They are not from the feed store - these are eggs that I hatched in my incubator.

Jbear: I thought I better tell you that Martha (the older hen) has gone broody and is setting on 3 eggs. I have NO clue what I am going to do with baby Seramas, but they will hatch and be fun right at fair time, so maybe we can take them to the fair and sell them (the babies). DD is still very active with her birds and absolutely loves them.

Yippee, I just got an 11 week old French Copper Maran pullet! She makes such a pretty little trilling, chirping noise. I really didn't expect that and don't know if it's usual for this breed, but it's pretty. We don't have a REAL coop for her while she's separated from the others but made a little home for her in a 5-gal. bucket. Much like a nesting box - blocked so it can't move - with straw bedding. This is the first night she's had to be all by herself so she was reluctant to settle down. I went out and coaxed her into the nest then rested my hand very gently on her back. She soon calmed down with very little chirping. A couple times when I stood up she wasn't quite satisfied so stood up and walked around looking for "her buddy" which is now my hand. Each time I coaxed her back in and rested my hand on her back. Eventually she stayed put so I could leave. I hope she's ok for the night, cuz that's home for a while! The enclosure is very secure so I know she's safe.

She's so gentle. But it was hilarious when we first put her in the run today. There's a temporary fence separating her from the others. She stood at the fence and faced off with Pearl the black pullet. The little Maran stretched up to her FULL height and stared her down. Then puffed out her neck feathers and attacked! Good thing the fence was there or we might have had to break up a full fledged hen fight!!!

The antics over the next few hours were really entertaining. We never knew how much fun chickens were going to be!

Thanks to RainWolf for providing the grower feed, it really worked out well yesterday. I got to see all her chickies, goats, and quails. A fun meet-up!
