Glad to see someone else from my side of the Mtns.

Ahhh...chicken adventures this morning! Last night I dusted all the birds with DE as part of our maintenance plan against bugs. While the older girls have done this before - none of them have to like it and the chicks were screaming about it like I was going to make them dinner!

So this morning I'm taking pictures of birds in clouds of white; and you can't tell the difference between the black ones & grey one

And I think they are all expecting extra treats for the trouble; and all the big girls are walking around the yard moaning! I'm not getting them treats...but I am putting together some fresh eggs for the neighbors that are having to listen to them

Hope you're all having fun with your flock today!

Heh. I don't think that's an option.

Hoping you have the option someday; it's lots of fun and yet you don't have to do any of the work

And the chicks never have to enter the house (although I must admit I've snuck them in a few times when DH is not home!)

Just a quick update...

I started having contractions (REAL ones) Friday night...I stuck it out until about 6am yesterday and had DH take me to the hospital. Of course, my doctor was out of town!

They hooked me up to monitors and I was on IV's and stuck in there from 8am until 5:30 last night. I got FOUR bags of fluid. I was really dehydrated. Four bags and I peed like 5 times--just a tiny amount. Due to my non-existent veins, it took two nurses four attempts to get a vein that wouldn't "pop" as soon as they stuck in the needle.

So I had stab wounds on both hands & wrists.

I dilated to 2cm and then nothing. A few of the contractions were so strong, I started throwing up. So they gave me anti-nausea medicine and about 3pm another medicine to stop the contractions--which did nothing so they gave me a larger dose of the same stuff about 5pm in the IV. They will not do a c-section before 39 unless it's medically necessary for me or the baby or unless I'm in "active labor" and 4+cm dilated.

So I am home now and ordered to drink only clear liquids and I only can get very small, light things--dry toast for example. They don't want me to have a full stomach in case I go into "real" labor and go through the c-section.

I'm pretty much on bed rest.

I missed the wedding last night--yes--the timing was not good. I did leave the tags on my dress so I can get my money back though.

The baby was hooked up monitors too and she seemed oblivious to the pain & suffering I was going through. Her heartbeat was good and was very active the entire time.

I have my 38 week appointment tomorrow....so we'll see. After all I went through yesterday, I'm hoping that we make it to the 16th I don't want to go through those contractions & constant crotch-checks again.

I'm back to the couch now!

I have a spare pair- I was a pukey kid, and always being able to change the bed in the middle of the night is something I grew up with. The thing is, though, I bought a pair of those sateen 100% cotton 300 count sheets on sale at Macy's, and they pill. The 230 count Egyptian Cotton ones I got on the Ross Clearance rack for twenty bucks are so much nicer! Unfortunately they're reaching that perfect smooth softness which is, in sheets, followed by disintigration, so I'll be back to the pilled one for a while soon, I'm sure.

Hi Honey. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Let us know how it is all going. Regarding constant crotch checks...LOL....my first pregnancy ended up in a ectopic pregnancy (very painful). I was laying on the table. Nurse on 1 arm starting an IV, lab tech on the other arm taking blood. Doctor doing ....well ya' know, checking...I had gas. I finally had to say something to the DR.....Hey I really am gassy and I just can't hold this back any more....He told me to let it go it is all natural. I was so mortified. You loose all sense of dignity and self consciousness when you have to go through something like this (or what you are going through). I can sympathize.
