This one is for you Chicken Rustler! A WHITE fleshed watermelon that isn't sold by Hermiston.

And guess what, it rocks, and is better than those Costco Watermelons!

This one was a little stunted in growth; They're normally around 4-10 lbs in weight.

It's an oval shape. The yellow X is where the pump is. I need to pull it frequently to clean it. It can be moved. The red line is a shallow shelf for plants.

Your pond looks so clean!
What kind of filter or filtering system do you use?
I've got to do something about mine....

It's a TetraPond system, with an added ultraviolet light. I have had the green slimy pond in the past, but I think this year the cloudy early summer & spring helped a lot. I usually cover the surface with water hyancinth. Haven't been able to get motivated this year to do much of anything. I find if I clean the system everyother day it helps a lot, but that's a lot of cleaning. I have also used the chemicals to kill the algae.

It is very do-able with expanded steel and some framing. But looks like it is something that would really need to look at and measure then go build which given our locations may not work for me.

Is there expanded steel open enough so it wouldn't look like a lid? More like a stiff net? I'll take pictures from the roof of the house on Tuesday. So you can see the entire pond. And don't worry about travel, if we can come up with something, I have no problem driving down to you.

Thanks for the welcome. Would love to show you pics of my Iowa Blues (all spring 2011 stock), but haven't figured out how to post a picture yet. I've tried a time or two... no luck.

I do have a FaceBook page I started dedicated to the Iowa Blues. Several pics of my Blues are there. And my avatar is a picture of my Iowa Blue rooster. I call him "Bleu" (so original, I know! LOL) He's a handsome devil.

Umm I think you needed glasses CR - That WHITE fleshed watermelon has seeds. . .

I would never, ever grow a variety that is seedless.
