might very well be me, getting the first frost --- we're in that cold belt along the Nisqually River, cold air runs down from the Nisqually Glacier and the others on Mt Rainier ... and often we are 5 to 10 degrees colder than most of western Washington

on the other hand ... North Bend gets cold too !!! and she's at a higher elevation (we are only about 700 feet)

It was Henrietta!!! The one I know for sure is a girl, as she is our only layer right now! And then when I wasn't sure if it was really her, she did it again!

This is not from this morning - but a cute pic of her

She really is a girl - I have eggs to prove it.

I think that she was calling for Panda - as Panda, Henrietta, and Juno grew up together...and Juno is distracted with chicks so Henrietta was not sure what to do. I gave her scratch and she was quickly distracted...but will be checking in with DH later to see if she's still doing it!

If it's not one thing - it's another! How am I going to explain to the neighbors that a hen was crowing?

Dawn
I'm sure I could find room for Henrietta along side Panda

panda is out in the run with the rest of the girls but she is keeping her distance... she'll be ok

on my way in a couple hours or so, to pick up the incubator from Dana (SadieSue), take it down to Julia (Stumpfarmer), and do a CARE package run to DS

no sign of Jake-the-dog, who gets his memory scrubbed after one of these seizures; one of our neighbors thinks he MIGHT have seen him heading out across the road, by the time we learned this, it was too late to go check on neighbors living in that area

animal control hasn't had any calls to pick up dogs of that description, the local vet hospital hasn't either

my fault, I should have grabbed him and kept him from going out into the yard, but I thought his electronic containment collar would at least keep him here on the property ... usually he just goes out and does the rest of his business on the grass

didn't realized until a few minutes later that it had started to rain ... so Jake probably headed towards shelter of some sort, instead of going to our back porch which is well sheltered

Well, I was serious about getting the greenhouse cleaned out, reroofed, and cage-enabled. Eventually I want the whole barn for poultry and sheep, but that'll take a bit.

Applesauce. I made a mistake with darn calculator (why won't it save and recall for me?). I am going to be getting rid of all my day old cockerels after all.

Don't worry, you can't confuse me further: I have mortar fire, the dogs freaking out, Stewie learning to jump on higher and higher shelves, and at that very moment a robocall from a political group on my "push poll, do not participate" list, so I'm as confused as even I can accomplish.

Oh, that sounds awful. And you have work today, don't you...
Feel better soon!

Yup, at work now.

If you have what layed me low yesterday morning atop being in your third trimester, you have every bit of my sympathy. I'm still a little shakey- probably because I got up and worked after laying down when I first felt ill- so at least sit with your feet up whan you can, and doze a little.

Nope, not even me, and I'm usually 1-2 weeks ahead of the rest of the neighborhood. Cold fog, though, lots of very cold fog.

ETA: checked my minimax thermometer, and it was 39.7 here last night- warmer than Ethel, which is a bit odd, although with the wind out of the NNW maybe not.
