Shoot I wish he wasn't so far away. I have way of getting wood. I have already made DH share some fire wood with a neighbor. I want a wood stove, but with the economy going the way it is, I don't know if I will be able to get one anytime soon. I just want a small free standing stove.

I want a small freestander also, it will be,

a busy thread, interesting,

Actually I just arrived from MI, I was up in the Yukon a few winters ago , great place, I think this eastern Wa area looks much like the area up there that I was in.

Right now my main interest and work is the Icelandic Chickens, I have a long time interest in heritage RIRs, Orpingtons, Wyandottes and other heritage LF.

I make big pots of soup or stew, divide it into containers, and freeze it. It's easier than canning.

I have used the freezer for years, but as far as I know that potatoes don't freeze well. So I thought that canning the soup or stew would make it taste better when it's eaten later. As far as making soups or stews, I still haven't learned the recipe for a small batch. I have been trying to make a small batch for nearly 30 years now. Now if I could figure out how save the stuffed pepper leftovers. I don't like leftovers very much. I really wish I did. I wish that the peppers would freeze and thaw into an edible dish again.

Make soup out of them. They won't look the same, but they'll taste good.

when were you there?
I just got home a few hours ago, musta missed you again!
And yes, once again it was a great disapointment.
There was only 1 American class bird, and to my surprise, a mottled Java hen, which was almosy completely black and only had a few white spangles on SOME of her feather ends.
She did not apear to me to have yellow soles either, but being the only entry, she will at least get BB, BV.
There were Black Australorps...no other Americans.
No RIR, No Buckeye, NO java, no NH, NO Dellies, none.
Lotsa bantams, in every breed, and lotsa ducks, but hey, this is so close to Oregon.

We were there from about 10 to 1.

If they had LF birds -- I missed them. With the exception of some Jersey Giants. I was very disappointed as I'm not into bantams, or silkies.

Sometimes that is the exact die off age, and again at about day 17..I think.
Don't remember why.

I am also thinking that: I candeled them on day 8, we went camping that weekend with DS staying home (he does not like to camp). There was a storm and the power went out for a few...but I reall did not think it was long enough to do harm. I believe it was less than 30 minutes. The incubator was never opened and it automatically resets when it comes on.....who knows....

I hate not knowing...but I know that things just sometimes happening. Unfortunately for me...I want a reason.

Final count is 5 orpingtons and 1 serama. The 1 poor serama is so small against the orpingtons...it is funny. I had planned on keeping the seramas in the house all winter until it warmed up because they will not get that big....am I suppose to keep 5 orps also? They are the size of full grown birds at age 4 monthys.

I will just wait and see.

I am looking forward to seeing pics. So what about the singleton baby serama? Can you keep them together since there is such a size difference? Sorry more did not hatch for you, but at least you got a few out of the deal.

Pretty! I don't know anyone else with that breed. Will they be decent layers? ( I suppose could just click to find information on them.)
