LOL, Dierdre is easier to say than phonemes!

CGG - It is so good to see you posting on here again. One of these days when you have some time I'm just going to grab a bottle of something and come out to pour you a glass and visit. Maybe I'll have one of our other BYCer's ride along with me!

I ride shot gun.

And I am willing to bring my own glass too.

well, my six EEs hatched end-of-Feb-first-of-March ... are losing some feathers at least, and I am getting usually two eggs a day, mostly from the same two (Ginger and Becky) but occasionally I get a green or blue one ... which could be any one of the other four

Phoebe started at 19 weeks if I remember right, and Ginger was the last to start at about 23 weeks ... but they may be a bit precocious as far as EEs go; also I had them on a higher protein feed than most people use

haven't been out to see what was laid today yet, had to get up at 5 AM to get DS to court in time (actually there was less traffic than usual and we were almost an hour early there)

GOOD news, the judge okayed him to transition to "home electronic monitoring" so he will be HOME with us, starting tomorrow night if all goes well with the device-fitting tomorrow

so I'm excessively tired -- sitting STILL in a courtroom for 2-1/2 hours doesn't sound that difficult, but for me it is ... the driving was easier though it took about as long, round trip

I bought him a nice lunch to celebrate ...

Would you be coming through edmonds?

I'm sorry but -

There's a huge stretch of road's difference between Edmonds and Bremerton.

Whidbey Island - To be honest I always ignore even Craigslist ads from there. Haven't a clue how to get there, and I have a feeling people who live there don't want to bother driving/ferrying/flying over to me.

Whidbey is very close to you Illia. You go Port Townsend and get on the ferry to Keystone. I love that ferry run. It's the best during a really big storm.

Yes! I think my Wyandottes are the most friendly of all the breeds I have. If they are free ranging, the whole group follows me around at my heels. Love me Wyandottes!!! Does your fellow have a name yet?

Yes he has a name. remember this is the one that couldn't stand up the first day he was born. and when he would lose track of momma and the rest of the flock he would start to cry and just keep turning around in a circle.

My DD named him Ricky Retardo

Here's for wishing.

Hey - she suggested I meet her in Kingston! It's not much more to come to Edmonds, right??

forgot that DH wouldn't be here to shut the chickens in the coop tonight; so I girded my loins and went out to do it; checked for eggs

one pink, one olive, one aqua ... so Ginger, Becky, and probably Anitra, or maybe Deirdre if she's putting more coating on her eggs these days

not pointed enough to be Phoebe's, not big enough to be Christina's

I smashed up all the eggshells we had around here (the empty ones of course) and DH mixed them with oyster shell, refilled their calcium dish; I hoped that might encourage a little more laying ...

but it's getting dark outside at 6 now instead of 9 .. though I *know* they are up before 6 AM, I hear them about dawn .... there's a translucent fiberglass panel at one end of their coop, and the high-ranking chickens roost on top of the nest box at that end; I replaced the second roost (balanced from the nest box top to the middle back support timber) since they were getting crowded on the transverse roost

will see what I can do about more light in the coop

I would be willing to give away a pair of my buff-laced Polish bantams to a good home who knows how to take care of them. These are pet quality only-stubs on the male and a curled beak on the female render them unfit for show or breeding but they are healthy and lovely and I would place them rather than turn them into dinner ( snacks rather) if someone wanted them.

Well, I may have figured out what the coyotes are after: there are two dozen honkers pasturing in the Big Oak Tree Field (which is nearly unique among our named fields in actually containing what it's named for: the Grey Barn Field was named for a neighboring barn that's been gone for twenty years, The Corn Field was last planted to corn in 1989, the last alfalfa in the Alfalfa Field disappeared in about 1995, and the Orchard Field was fenced off from the orchard when I was a preschooler). That's like having three or four more cows pasturing, and we're right at the limit of actual cattle right now, so I'm fine with the coyotes going after them, any damage on either side is for the good, as far as I'm concerned.
