I second that. I would like to see some others set ups.

Me too!
What about the silkie & call duck set ups????????????????
Y'all into showing??
let 's see your coops, your cleaning, your birds...

I've posted my pens before, I don't know where the pics are at this moment... All the silkies are in my shop in 5x10 or 5x12 foot pens. I have a metal stackable brooder and horse troughs for brooding. My geese and ducks are outside and I use electric poultry netting.

I use shavings as bedding over concrete.

Cool!
See how Mamma teaches the babies to roost?
I have (sadly) had a few broodie Hens that flew up & roosted before the chicks could fly that far.
Now my broodie hens are in a brood pen, on the floor until I put them in a coop with bigger birds.

Juno has moved them from the broody coop to the big coop at four weeks; then back again for about ten days and has been back in the big coop for almost a week now. I pretty much let her do whatever makes her comfortable.

Also - since Juno is a Giant Jersey - she has a hard time flying up to the roosts, so we installed a ramp for her that leads to the upper nest box and first roost. Turns out the chicks really like it too

It's so difficult to plan! Some years we go through six or seven bags of candy, and some years go through less than two bags. I bought four bags this year and was swamped with trick-or-treaters! We ran out of candy about 8:00 so turned out the lights & blew out the candles in the pumpkins. And kids still keep coming to the door! I'm now giving away DS's candy since they got back about the same time we ran out of candy...he is NOT happy with me.

I'm glad you were able to use the roofing tiles! If you (or anyone else!) needs anymore - let me know! They're still in the backyard. (Finn Hill area)

And I still have a mini fridge; not working and sitting in my office in Seattle. If anyone is heading to see CR - we're right off the 45th St exit in Seattle - so close!

And BTW for any body thinking of leaving home tonight for what ever reason. Remember this IS Halloween and one could come home to find they have been tricked or maybe treated. Lucky for me livin out in the styx we don't get little gooblins or big ones either for that matter.

Similar situation here. Miss Whitey Ford decided about 10 days ago that she and her boys were moving back into the big coop and that no one else had better have anything to say about it. She is boss, her chicks are privileged and what she says goes. She has taken up the top roost, spreads her wings WIDE over those 3 boys and no one is allowed to sit on the roost directly underneath her. It's definitely getting a little crowded. Its' reminding me of Ma Barker and her gangster boys. I'm afraid time is just about up for those hoodlums of hers.

The boys are still cute, even now that they're adolescents but I am getting tired of her constantly bossing everyone around, not letting the rest of the flock get near treats until she and her boys have had their fill, etc.

I bet you wouldn't mind some eggs from Ms Whitey Ford as well! I know we're missing Juno's jumbo eggs here!

Do you know what you'll do with the 'hoodlums'?
