Which, for the record, is pretty much what both ChickieLady and I said- although I referred to an entire class of Fraxinius cultivars and she named one of them by its commercial name.

And I was surprised to read the answer, there, because I've been assured by all sorts of people (when I bug them about using appropriate native trees for street trees) that the non-fruiting ashes are superior to all maples, especially the native ones, as street trees, because they do nor root-throw pavements.

Next time you go out, park on the side of the road, take a hairdryer with you, and point it at passing motorists!

Well the rail doesn't go on the road. It is not street legal and the rear tires are way too expensive to run on pavement.

Up & down every street in every housing suburb in California

They are very susceptible to California Brown scale & aphids though~~~sticky sap mists down constantly.

I wasn't doubting you. I just wondered if I could find comments online about these trees, because they really are striking (IMO), and luckily I did.

would help to hear what your ideas are about what constitutes a "good dog"

size? temperament? long or short coat ? activity level ? age ? sex (assuming neutered or spayed) ? preferred breed(s) ?

house dog or outside or both ? hunting/sporting dog -- herding dog -- fireside dog -- play-with-kids dog .... ??

and so on ....

Short coat must be good with kids inside or outside medium activity level sex don't matter lab would be nice but a mix breed is ok too

Now off to work

I don't have a candidate ... was more interested in clarifying what you were looking for ...

we've had a few discussions about possibly finding a better place for Roxy -- but she is HIGH activity, and probably would freak out being left home alone all working day ... we will find out in a couple of weeks, when we will be out of town for around ten days, and Chris will be working at least 5 days out of 7 .. we'll have to do some serious dogproofing before we go, since I can't see leaving her locked in one room for 11 hours with no access to the yard

Well hello all.

Welcome to the newbies...hang on ...this group moves fast.

CR: Congrats on the tobacco free...that is always good. How is the back doing?

CL: It MUST be cold out as you are on BYC a lot recently....lol. Nice to se you.

Ogress: (Pretty sure you)...love the Avatar (muppet).

Okay I am sure I am missing something. I will catch up later. No kids tonight (no I did not lock them in the basement - although that is an idea

) DH and I may go see a show and have dinner. We won't know what to do. I want to read about chickens. I think he is getting jealous of them...

Well I came I----I this close to getting to go the Chehalis.
Pretty sure it aint' gonna happen. But there may be a slim chance.
I was going to go to Yakima and stay at my brother's ....then go over the pass Saturday morning...2.5 hour drive to Chehalis for the show. Better than 8 hour and have to pay for motel for 2 or 3 nights. I don't drive real long distances real well. I would want to be awake to enjoy show. I could not get up early Saturday .... drive all day....go to show....spend 1 night then go back. I can't do it.

Anyway, down to Yakima and over the pass. Unfortunately, the pass (US 12) - can't remember pass name - but it is not the greatest and I think when it gets snow on it they close it down.

DH wont' bring trailer over there...again, thought of going over passes pulling it. And he has it all put away for winter. Poop.

so close and yet so far. Almost bought a beautiful roo from a guy in CA....but the timing is just not right. Maybe in the spring.

I WILL COME TO MONROE...COME H-E-(double toothpicks) or HIGH WATER!!!!!

Anyway, post photos for me.

If for some freak reason the weather holds I will get to go....but Disautel had couple of inches of snow last night. It is only 3000 ft I think.

I'm afraid to go to Chehalis. I might be disappointed and mention it here. We all know what happened last time. So, I'll stay home with my yard birds
