and yes, I had a thought or two about that pickup -- if we could drag it to J&I so DS could fix it

my Trooper is great EXCEPT .. the transmission is making funny noises, and there are things I want to transport that won't fit in a closed-top vehicle ... like the nice boxes at DS's work that would make quarantine coops easily ...

nope, I'm here .. just haven't had that much to say .. Sunday is FOOTBALL day especially since I am messing with Fantasy Football

so available for very short bits of time (halftimes, analysis between games)

don't go to Maui until February ... even though we wrote it into the contract that we could come and occupy the parts of the house unavailable to tenants, they say they won't honor that, so we have to wait until they leave ...

unless of course one or the other of us has a medical thing that requires doctor visits ... HMO there, no reciprocity

and I'm eager to see how my chicks turned out, since we had to leave last year just about the time they were ready to move from brooder to coop ... that is assuming that they survived; our cottage tenant hasn't said anything one way or another

if not, the Del's there sells chicks .... probably EEs from Privett just like here ...

Im thinking I might just do a good hearty home style baked chicken. Garlic, thyme, poultry seasoning, salt peper, olive oil, red potatoes, onion, and carrotts with a nice thick gravy... Im gonna make DH make the gravy, because I hate making gravy! lol

I really need to not worry about WHO is coming over, and just fix a meal. lol I rarely completely botch a meal, and hardly ever have anyone complain...

If he wanted resturant style food he would have eaten there. maybe home cooked cooked food and a warm family life are what he needs.

Must have been, because I didnt get a single complaint! So easy too. 20 minutes prep work, and pop it into the oven for an hour, Make gravy at the last minute and serve! I love quik easy meals, especially when they are hearty on cold nights!

I wouldn't be surprised if the fairgrounds is dry- some are, some aren't. I seem to remember that Lewis County/maybe just Centralia had some restrictive ordinances about places that served alcohol back as recently as the late seventies.

Even if they allow alcohol, the host is mostly likely required to buy a million dollar umbrella type insurance policy for the days they rent. It's to expensive to bother with.

It depends on how controlled access is- the halls at Thurston County Fairgrounds that are rented out to wedding receptions and so on have coverage, but the barns do not, nor do the outlying food service booths.

Well Cinder Block was born and raised in Nebraska, so punk can come from the central western plains.

OK, here's the deal: I am not getting stuff done with lightening speed, there is no way to get more room for the bathroom chicks, and I'm going to have to move at least half of them if not more, before Thanksgiving- and they're all going to be cockerels, at least I hope so. Free with a sack of feed, offered first to y'all, and then going on Craigslist.

I can't deal with this any longer, it's too much stress, and I got the accelerator pedal stuck down and stopped sleeping.

Chicken Plucking

Quote:
To all my BYC Buddies - If anyone wants to pluck chickens rather than skin them, we have a plucker here. We have a scalder and only thing we ask is a contribution for the propane. So, if at some time a bunch of folks want to get together, let me know. It's also big enough to handle ducks, geese and turkeys, and it does it FAST! (it won't skin a rabbit though, mores the pity)

I didn't really. I went to Korea in the late seventies, lost track of the music scene, and never caught up again.

If they won't honor the contract, can't you kick them out? Maybe you should think about doing that while you're there.

I wonder what they're up to that they don't want you there.

they probably want their privacy ...

the room we'd be occupying, is directly next to their living/dining room, with only panes of glass and translucent curtains between; the area once was a patio, with big picture windows looking onto it; has been enclosed now, with minimal sanitary facilities -- we would have to enter and exit through the garage

if WE had been the ones choosing them as tenants, not so much a problem, but our last tenants left early, we weren't there to choose new ones, so a real estate agent did this deal for us ... they don't know us, we don't know them

they might think we would want to get into the main house ... they might think we are noisy or nosy or intrusive .... it's not like it's a duplex

in any case, we've already bought the (nonrefundable) tickets so it's pretty much set in concrete ... barring emergencies

their lease is up Feb 4 and we are set to arrive Feb 5 ...

yeah, this is the third set of tenants who initially agreed to "share" the house, and all of them have reneged on it ... the other two sets both had marital/ domestic violence problems, split up, and decamped

(sigh) I wish we could afford NOT to have to rent the place out .. but we couldn't stay on the mainland if we didn't
