I have 4 hens from the same batch....
1: splash with feathered shanks... = OE
2: Blue clean shanked = OE (caught her on nest laying a olive egg)
3: Blue clean shanked = unknown waiting to start laying
4: Blue clean shnaked = unknown waiting to start laying

all of the blues came from blue eggs so CL I think your maran boy jumped the fence back then lol
splash came from a maran egg

I'll be banding the 3 blues tonight, to figure out which is the OE and which are the ones not laying yet..

If you're talking about the one who was 14 (I think) and 6' or so, that's not who it was.

Yes that would be Ogress DS He is bigger than me !! poor little guy. IF I remember right he is only like 12-13. In my opinion a very good mannered young man. I know there were other youth there and Just because I don't mention them isn't a bad thing it is probably that I was not exposed to them. Just like cmsdvm's DS. I know he was there but I just never really saw him around.

Thank you CR! He turned 13 in October and was just over 6'3" in August. I'm thinking he must be at least 6'4" now. He told me that all the BYC people are very nice. Usually he dreads going anywhere that there are more than 3 or 4 people, but he was feeling comfortable around everyone at the show. He keeps asking when he can try your honey, but I am hiding it for now. We have to finish the bottle of Sue Bee. He normally gets through honey real fast, but every once in a while I buy a commercial brand from the grocery store instead of getting our honey from one of the local bee-keepers; and then the honey just sits there (unless it is Mesquite honey from Trader Joes).

CL - he likes your Buckeyes!

It has been very chilly here - only about 20 when I get up in the mornings to let the chickens out, and it does not get above freezing all day. The sky is full of stars at night, and in the morning, it looks like they have all fallen to the earth as everything is coated in a thick blanket of ice that sparkles in the bright sun. I t is so bright out when I drive to work in the mornings that I need to wear my sunglasses up here! (I am working in Redmond this week). It is about 5 degrees warmer in town, still in the mid-20's, but there is not so much ice. You can still see the green in the grass, by the time I get to Snoqualmie Falls, it is almost 30 there, and heavy fog in the valley below. In Redmond, there is not even frost. It's just cloudy and dreary; full of traffic and nothing pretty to look at.

Well when ya get to PeEll or Packwood (opposite ends of the county) the family trees just don't branch out.

It's funny cause when i was driving thru Morton, I kinda thought it was pretty cool cause that's my new last name!!! LOL I wanted to steal the city sign!! LOL

I do have connections ya know. Do ya remember just east of Morton (that would be toward Yakima for the directionally challenged) There was an over pass well that is fern gulch (gap). Don't wanna be there after dark.

Didn't I take a picture of you...? I think someone pointed you out to me, but maybe that's as far as it got.

Someone ...Candy? Mrs. CR? snapped a picture of me...haven't seen that yet!

am sure that was me --- I'm not sure if Diane (Mrs CR) was taking pictures too

it's a new (to me) camera, from the thrift store up at Whistler, and I haven't figured out how to download the pictures yet

(my Sony, that I took the pictures of the dog and my chickens, ran out of memory; I need a memory stick)

some of the Chehalis pictures didn't turn out very well; after I read the camera reviews on Amazon, I realized why -- the flash on that one is --- mmm, not so good --- probably why it was in the thrift store though functional ...

also it takes AA batteries, and seems to be picky about wanting the high dollar super power ones ... not my brand new Kirkland-brand ones

I tried to get a picture of everyone I could identify as being a BYCer ... but am sure I missed several people ...

When DS was in 5th grade, he tested Kirkland AA batteries against Duracell in both flashlights and in little toy trains. Kirkland is a much better buy; not only because they were cheaper, but they lasted just a little longer, he even switched the trains and flashlights around to make sure the difference was not due to something outside the batteries, and he repeated his tests a bunch of times.

You are in trouble now girl!

I think T-Hi had Daffy call up that little butter drake and tell him how sweet life can be in the people coop.

Hey Ogress sorry for the delay andpoor display of my manners (or lack of) But thank you for the bottle of "Pig Iron Cola". That is AWESOME and I could tell Alex was pretty excited to give it to me.

BTW about the Honey keep in mind that it has been strained but not filtered. You might find a few tiny particles of wax but they harmless. Also the reason it is a little cloudy is because I have to cold bottle which causes tiny air bubbles to get trapped. If put in a warm place and undisturbed for a week or so the bubbles should float out. Enjoy. Also for something good take a little honey add some cinnomon oil.

I did the same thing, nice little tour of the historic district, and since I was obviously lost and was not paying much attention to the street signs, I drew the attention of a police car who followed me and all my crazy turns through Chehalis before I finally found where I wanted to be! Thank Goodness he never pulled me over!

Hi All;
My name is Carol and Red Reiner turned me to this thread. I live in La Center, Wa which is just a few miles north of Vancouver Wa. I very proudly raise English Orpingtons. I got my birds from Bamachicken. I am just thrilled with how they turned out. My girls are starting to lay consistently and I cant wait to start hatching after the first of the year. Here are a few pics that I took last week. Hope you enjoy looking at them.

Mmmmm MMmm Mmmm! I love it when I find wax in honey. When I was a little kid, my Dad used to occasionally give me a hunk of honeycomb to chew on, and I thought it was better than any candy!

Sometimes I have stored jars in my shed which seems to be the right temp for the honey to form very fine crystals, making the perfect whipped honey!

I made a big pot of white been chilli with tomatillo sauce and some of Scotts ground pork sausage on Sunday. I put a few spoons of honey in the chilli too! It was super yummy.

DS just finished his homework and came in to give me a goodnight hug. He admitted to 2.5 pieces of Baklava. Seems after he saw how Olivia enjoyed the nuts from the first piece when he thought he did not like the nuts (prefers them creamy), he decided to give it another try. Then he decided he DID like the Baklava, chunky nuts and all, so he got another piece, but then started feeling bloated as he was eating it. Even with how he was feeling, he still insisted on pie from Spiffies, but we took the pie slices home. He was burping so bad and smelly on the way home, I was driving with the windows rolled down, Brrr! That kid almost never gets sick, but when he does, he does so in a BIG way!

I used to have 2 big Maine Coon Kitties - Chester and Morton. They each weighed 20 pounds and were not overweight! Big love-bugs!
