He's a BIG yellow lab, the sweetest guy..

I love labs. I'll bet he would be a nice addition to someone's place. Does he get along well with chickens? And BTW Cheri - nice to see you posting again!

The only thing that I know about this is: I want to go see this!! I saw a Youtube video of them.. stunning!

Yep, me too. I'm going to have to look hard at the schedule to see when I can fit it in between my own rehearsals and performances. It's like a dream - and the photos are ethereal.

So how long does it take for new chickens to work out pecking order? I'm worried about the new Araucana and Wheaten Ameraucana. The Araucana is a BULLY. I had both of them in the mini coop for the past weeks and finally started letting them out to free range in the back yard and the first thing the Araucana did was take off after everyone she met up with - she challenged the cockerels, chest bumping, hackles ruffled, she RAN after my Faverolles and jumped on their backs, riding them into terror and if a group of them are enjoying treats, she'll butt in and let them know she'll take over from here.

This girl is half the size of most of my flock, but she doesn't let that stop her. It appears her quarentine time with the Wheaten Ameraucana has turned the Wheaten into a quivering mass of insecurity, so I think I'll take her out of the mini coop and let her have some quiet time and individual attention. She'll live in the bunny cage for a while for her own safety. It appears the Araucana has been picking at her.

I tried putting the Araucana in a time out cage for a couple of days and that didn't faze her at all.

Will she eventually calm down and quit being such a brat? I'm worried about the rest of my docile flock. Is there something I can do to take her attitude down a few notches? I don't send my chickens to freezer camp, but if she continues like this she may be looking for a new home, which is too bad because she has given us a few very nice blue eggs, but that's not enough to redeem her.

The Araucana was supposed to be DD's bird, but I'm sure DD doesn't want the rest of our beloved birds terrorized either.

Is this really made outof pop bottles? Id love to know how to do it.

yes it is! just google plastic bottle greenhouse.... that photo is the one I like best since the builder took TIME and made it nice rather then just jamming a bunch of bottles together.

NOTE! DO NOT USE GREEN BOTTLES!!!!
I've seen many use green bottles BUT green light is not good for growing plants!
green light helps germination
red lights help growing (red/yellow as in sunshine!)
Tons of scientific studies online about how colored light affect growing plants.

Oh, yeah!

I have about two pounds of this pepper http://rareseeds.com/red-cheese-pepper.html in my freezer right now- thick walled, juicy (stains the cutting board red) flavorful without being at all hot, and the greatest thing ever for stuff like Creole Chicken.

I don't like sweet corn for eating, and my feelings are anything under two acres is a waste of space, because the best thing about sweet corn is to pick it into feed sacks and sell it with the dew still on and make money fast. It's sort of contrary to my theory of raspberries, which says you want exactly enough plants of successive-fruiting varities that you can pick as many as you want to eat every day and never waste any nor have to make jam (which I can't eat).

And this brings up a good point I know that growing houses are clear or transparent. So WHY are they always called "GREEN" houses ??? Why not just growing hoses or hot houses but why green houses when they are NOT GREEN ! ! ! !
