That reminds me, was watching a channel a few days ago that was advertising a new snuggie like thing but it's oversized and you wear it like one piece fleece pajamas over your cloths, zips up the front and even has a tail flap for going to the bathroom. The add was hilarious. Not so bad for women but it showed a group of men wearing them at a tailgate party at a football game. Outdoors in public! At a football game? Ya, right. They suggested you had a few extra on hand for guests to wear when they come over for a visit! I just can't imagine men even coming close to thinking about putting one of those on. And how would you convince your guests to put one on at a party! That group of men wearing those was a sight to see. Gave me the giggles. Cheap thrills I guess.

If she's using forced-air or electic coil style heaters, a new flat panel or oil-filled radiant heater mich be a good first step; they heat the objects in a room, and improve comfort levels faster.

BUT: Sweaters, thick socks, and window coverings (even tightly woven sheers help) are nonegotiable at night or in cloudy weather, especially.

speaking of which, Julia, let me know when those chicks no longer need the radiant panel -- I'd like to put it in the coop for those couple of weeks, coming up this winter, when temps get into the 'teens

To try and contain the chaos and restore order in the backyard I'm going to post the three EE cockerels on Craigslist. I'm taking photos of them today. They are free to anyone on BYC - but will be "cheep" on Craigslist. Does anyone have any interest?

I've got her using an oil filled radiator (on loan from RonB) but she doesn't want to cover her windows - day or night!
RonB also let me try out his EdenPure unit for a few days.
I was trying to find out which would make her happiest at the lowest cost for me. (Not so much the initial cost, the EdenPure is far more than an oil radiator, I'm looking more the ongoing cost.)
It's really a concern to me as my electric bill is astronomical!

I absolutely cannot get the wanting to leave windows uncovered at night thing. I have a friend whose apartment has uncovered picture windows in both the living room and bedroom and you can feel your life force being drained out through the glass- and in the summer the west facing one makes the whole place like a sauna, not good for all his electronics! But: no curtains, no blinds, no nice privacy-protecting sheers, never. He at least is fully winter-clothing enabled.

Is it a very specific kind of claustrophobia or strong difference in taste, or one of those things there's no way to tell? It's something I got well over when I started paying the bills, I know that!

You can get it any time; I've got the heated towel rail plugged in now. Sorry I hadn't mentioned it, it was unplugged while you were in BC and it's slipped my mind since.

I listed Peep and the possible EE chick on CL...first at $5 for the pair, and then free (got impatient), and it looks like they'll be heading to a new home tonight. DH was whining about the poop smell (wah, wah) and I figured now is not the best time for me to keep that many chicks anyway. But the little red sex link (or whatever she is) loves napping on me

and of course, I must keep another one to keep her company...

It was the small red one you wanted? Yes, I will save him for you. If I had the room I'd keep the regal black and red guy - he's got crimson coloring on his back and a beautiful black beard coming in. I'll try to get photos posted today, but the small red is definitely the more "demure" of the three. It's an odd descriptor for a cockerel but it suits him.

These two auctions down here are in a real nasty battle against each other. The one at yard birds takes 20% and I was told the one up coal creek takes 15%. RedRooster Farm told me that she gets more for LF up coal creek and more for bantam at yard birds. I know that from what I have heard it sounds like the locals prefer the yard birds sale.

are either auction places by the train station? maybe I could come down with some birds for auction via train?
