I know there are a lot of them starting up across the country in place of Farmers Markets and CSA's. Some places are so glutted with Farmers Markets that there are not enough people to buy so farmers are dropping out and CSA's you have to take what they give you each week so people like the co op idea better. Plus you can pick up more than just produce. Our co op started with just my produce and eggs, honey, jams and a local baker. We just kept searching for local producers. We have 2 new bakers, a new farmer, Viking ice cream from Poulsbo, Milk, Fresh frozen and smoked salmon, pickled items, and now the mushrooms. We are working on finding a cheese producer and should be able to offer organic grains from Oregon. We just started charging a membership fee this year. Last year was a trial year. This year we also received enough donations from membership to purchase a software program for internet ordering. I'ts always done on the internet but this program takes care of a lot of things automatically which frees up a lot of volunteer hours. Producers get their available products entered by Sunday night. Members order what they want Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon from 3-4 their orders are sorted into bins then pick up and pay is 4-6. Producers pay 15% of sales up to $15 a week. Similar to what a Farmers Market would cost. It's also good since you only pick what is ordered so there is less waste. Last year we stopped for the winter but this year we decided to go year round. All ordering is slowed due to lack of produce but I'm working on putting in a 30 x96 High Tunnel so I can have greens through the winter. Also breaking new ground for more fall crops. I would have been able to sell this whole winter if I had been able to plant more. Onions, Leeks, Carrots, Beets, Cole crops, Potatoes, Squash. All those could have been sold all winter but are sold out. I'm going to focus on fall and winter since there is an abundance of summer produce. We should be picking up a few new farmers and the other one we have only does summer since she's a bus driver during the rest of the year. Our website is www.Freshfoodrevolution.org. Check us out. We are on Facebook too.

that sounds really nice, would they want goat milk soap? I make it from our girls milk..

I know, you would think they could at least replace it with a word that kind of gives the idea of what you meant. Like maybe 'poop' or something. Ha, a pooptake!

I think it actually tries to use words that "KIND OF" match the context. Most places it translates to poop.

So yesterday when I was picking up my kids ( bus driver) at one stop (daycare) I said hi to all the kids and said it was going to be a great day ( Ilike to start the ride off with a smile for the kids think its good for them) Well the day care lady said not for him I got to look up just as the poor guy shot vomit out all over. NOT GOOD! As I drove away all the kids kept saying he did it over and over like 6 times hay busdriver did you see that. Well Ive been sick to my stomach ever since.

Cannot scrape it off as the plastic frame has hexes in it that are indented, only a brush can get in the holes..or CRs sand blaster.
The frame is not smooth.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/50801_jan_5_2012_005.jpg

all those little hexes are like shallow hexagon shaped cups.

Ok so this is going to sound stupid, not sure how big they are what about a oven or even a BBQ on low to just heat the wax and not hurt the plastic

would that work. I do know wax has a high melting point..

I will just keep cleaning them with the big scalder pot full of water & some white distilled vinegar, dip, scrub, dip scrub.
If they are so dirty I cannot get them clean, then in the trash they will go !!
Only 2 or 3 are dirty in this stack...the others are new.
The dirtiest one is shown.
It was on top of the pile so got the worst of blowing dust & dirt that stuck to the warm wax...that in the 110 degree California heat.

Thanks, but I can't help thinking that there has to be a way to clean them without chemicals that could harm them...something that dissolves wax & can be safely used around bees, safe after rinsing.

Not to sound odd....but what about a torch? Be really careful as to NOT burn the frame but light enough to warm up the old wax and residue and maybe you can use a scraper to scrape it off?

Good try but the are not flat they have hnoeycomb shapes tht stick up about 1/16" and the "dirty" is mostly bees wax. so any flame is out. Otherwise you will have a fire.

We had a HIGH of 34 yesterday. A low overnight of 34 and it is now 39.

Yeah I talked to Toni also..and that day she came down with Mia's pullets, she said she had woke up with a sore throat & overslept because of it.
Now we hope TotalColour & CR & DW do not come down with it as well !!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful pic!!! I really want Nubians...

I do love them (I used to help with showing a herd of Nubians when I was a young teenager) but my word they get big.

So here is a story that will make you spit coffee out of your nose (as teresa says)

ya know we have a chemical toilet here in the cabin, like in an RV, with a tank that has the blue chemical in it to prevent stink....
And everyday I want it emptied, so either I or DH takes the tanl over to the building site, and dumps it in the outlet pipe for the septic tank, which is next to our house foundation (the house we are building)
So a few days ago he takes off the top & carries the tank out & returns a few minutes later & says he was dumping it (it has a pipe & lid on the pipe & you pour the doody out into the septic pipe) and he moved a bit & some stuff went out on the ground.
So he washed the pipes & all & came back in & told me about it, and then he looked me in the eye all seriously and said "You need to chew your corn better" and I just LOST IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said, how do ya know it was MY corn ????????????????

Oh my.....I can't hardly waite for spring ...I have threatened to set the toilet on the house floor already.
Imagine the floor, is like a big stage right now, no walls, so there would be the toilet there all by itself !!!!!!!!!!
lau.gif

maybe put up a awning over it ???????
