I looked into it once and i remember it was $500 for the initial import. you can't legally import eggs because they still have a 30 day quarantine.... live birds are quarantined and you still have to pay the government for taking care of them for the 30 days. pretty soon the APHIS program won't allow any importation because it will be sooo costly.

what were you looking into importing?

Greenfire is who I talked to about handling the importing for me. They said the eggs aren't quarantined, but inspected by a customs inspector, etc...

It's more than that now, btw...

Reminds me of the days not at all long ago when a single black female llama went for $12,000.

There is no breeding stock, of any kind, anywhere that's worth that much; I got taught that lesson one day when we stopped by a friend's house to pick up fair entry forms and found the whole family grinding a bull they'd just paid $5000 for (in 1966 dollars) into hamburger: the first day they turned him out with the cows he had a heart attack and died in the field.

Anything over about twice the average market price is the bidder looking for a marketting headline.

(Cynical. Been farming way too darned long).
