This morning I discovered that we had to go to town today to get meds for DW. So off to Chehalis we go. Our road waspretty bad but when we got to the Hwy it was ok and in town they barely had enough snow to make the ground white.
Oh and as for how deep is the snow here ?
At 9:00 this morning It was hiney high to a garden hogg ! ! !

Sunbreaks!?! Send some over here!

The only way the weather has been changing here is in the intensity of the snowfall - sometimes swirling like a snow globe, and other times driving hard in the wind so that it manages to find its way down my ear canals!

The chickens are hanging out in the coop and pooping it up. They occasionally wander into their covered run for some water, but just when they are all starting to relax, the wind starts up, knocking snow from overhangin branches which falls onto their wavy plastic roof and stars off a chain of loud noises that sends them all squaking back into the cooop!

rat-a -tat-tat-tat-tat-a-tat-tat-crrraaaack- KABOOM!!!!
I have never seen chickens run so fast and tryto squeeze through the pop-doors 5 at a time! The Roosters are no gentlemen when they are scared!

Afternoon folks!

So tell me, why didn't they just cancel school??!?!!?!? We had a 2hr late start, and now they are dismissing an hour early!!!!!

I sent in my high schooler and middle schooler as it was slushy, melting, seemed warmer this morning. As we were waiting for the middle school bus, it started sleeting very hard. Turned to snow as soon as she got on the bus and now we have another 3". Kept the youngest one home. Spent an hour shoveling off my large front deck. Remember all that snow is heavy and there is more coming!!!!

Poor chickens are not liking this snow one bit. Going out to add more clean shavings to most of the coops since they are all hundered down in there it's getting nasty. Clean shavings and some scratch tossed in should cheer them all up.

our place is schizophrenic

the front yard is white ... as is the driveway

the back yard is GREEN ! and the drive back there is green too, with moss .... and no snow !

the inches of pretty white stuff which were sitting on the chicken-run tarp, are now four rippling puddles of water

(time for DH to go dump them off, right?)

we must have had a chinook wind come through here

oddly enough, you would expect the south-exposure front yard to have melted, and the leeward back yard to be blanketed still ...

and just at the moment there is a slice of sun showing to the southwest, above the Johnson Creek hills

straaaange weather

well, the snow can get it all out of its system, I'm thinking, so that we don't have any weather delays on our half-across-the-Pacific flight

usually we have a false spring about then, anyway, in time for DS #1's birthday .... often the forsythia, daffodils, and early azaleas and rhodies pop out, in time to get frozen again, a week later

Wow that is weird, cuz we still have a good 6" here at sea level !!
I would have thought Chehalis would have ALOT more than we do here...although it has warmed a bit & everything is melting off the trees ^ roofs.
I am soooooooooooooooo bored !

I put the bucket of baby chicks OUT in the brooder which is showing a temp of between 84 & 87 degrees.have to keep an eye on the boogers.
They were getting ancy in the tub & starting to have a fanny picking-toe picking party so out they went to new digs.

So far, I think they are OK...not huddled....little boogers !

I've been keeping a close eye on the weather radar, and you and I are on the "zipper" between the cold and warm fronts; I've gotten 30F and snow and 38F and rain within about five minutes. Nasty slippery hard to cope with weather. ALSO: I went to put my cooking wine back where it belonged and found that the hole had healed up, leaned over to figure out what had happened (editorial comment withheld) and hit my right eyebrown on the corner of a wall shelf.

I did not actually need a black eye today thankyouverymuch.

You truly have the worst luck - and the best way with words
