CR have you done your twice annual speel on heat lamps ?
Just in case anyone is trying to heat animals or coops ???

This is a heat lamp, it has a white heavy ceramic base & BIG cord.
It can take the heat.
I use heavy vineyad wire to loop the light to the ceiling etc. so a flying bird CANNOT knock it to the ground.

Well no. Do I really need to and add to it my speach about generators too?

This is NOT a heat lamp base, it is usually brown PLASTIC and has an on/off button and cannot take the heat & has a skinny cord !!!!!!!!
DO NOT USE THESE with a 250 watt IR heat lamp please !!!

We had a power outage this afternoon. It was only about an hour. Since it was still daylight I didn't get too worried about getting the generator going. That would involve stealing gasfrom the same neighbour I stoled my first hens from. I don't like shopping at grab it and run, during the daylight too easy to get caught.

Speaking of GENERATORS. DO NOT use generators OR BBQ's inside ANY structure. think of the smoking law of 25' away from doors or windows. If you are really worried about that gen just lay apiece of tin or something non-flamable over it. But really folks them things are made to use out side a little rain/snow ain't gonna kill it.
And if you don't know what you are doing and how to do it right DO NOT HOOK UP to your house. See IF not done right your generator will feed into the power lines. When you back feed that transformer it will boost the power of your generator (110/220) to normal line voltage ( 7,200/12,000) . This would be deadly to the unknowing utility worker trying to repair a line. Honestly folks for no more than most of us are out of power it is far easier and less expensive to just set that generator out side and run extension cords.
OK sorry that is my rant for this storm. Unless I see the needed desire to do this again. Please keep in mind this is BECAUSE I CARE ! ! ! !
