For those that show ... do you worry about taking your lovely birds to a playce where there are so many other birds, the chances of one of them being sick and sharing it .. is it not a worry ?

for example our goats: we sometimes will help other goat owners with breeding, by having our bucks breed their does, but this is all done in the driveway, never allowing their goats into our pens. Just wondering.

I want people's thoughts on this too.

holymoly is it a bit blowy out this morning or what? I mean most of the snow is already melted, 41º and all the wind nature can produce. 20-25 mpg sustained, with 30 -35 gusts ...

btw. ..

Morning All!

Lyme is a horsey thing- always used to use it in the stalls, and it's ggod for soil with too much moisture content (read duck poop) too, but, the older I get, the less I tolerate it. I use wood pellets if I have chicks indoors. Good idea- maybe I'll try them outside. We're OK. We've lost power a lot, and tarps are in sad shape- but at least we've gotten power restored in between several times to recoup. My husband has a generator, but he hasn't hooked it up. I think he thinks it's too much trouble. We always just light candles and get under blankets.

Maybe there are other motives there! Keep warm!

In the coop I use pine shavings, but it doesn't really ever get wet in there. The run has always been my trouble, I use a few pine shavings, then take straw and some of the refuse orchard grass from the hay barn and spread that atop of it all. The girls love to dig in it.

This addressed to RonB~~~~~~Oh good, I was worried !
Why didn't you check in ???
How are things there, much snow/ice ?

Sorry Boss

I will check in sooner next time. Have been going to work and trying to keep the snow off our roofs and the driveway. I was worried about the barn roof because it is old, and all of my coops are inside. we got about 12" or maybe it was a foot of snow

. the kids have been snow boarding in our back yard.. The wind was REALLY blowing last night, could feel it hitting the trailer. still without power.. its been 25 hours. Its the funniest thing the houses right next door on both the north and south side of us have power. but nobody across the street has it. it is 40 degrees out right now

Welcome to our addiction Clairabean !
We are hanging in there, I am way south & on the coast, and we got hammered with snow here, but thankfully were spared the freezing rain & just got regular rain here.

We are going to grab 6 loads of laundry & drive to my folks' in Elma to do wash & visit & have lunch.
Faster than doing it here & then we can visit all day with my parents.
Yesterday afternoon we drove out of here (carefully in the margarita slush) and went to town and our river across the street the Willapa was at half tide, & going out and was actually at the tippy top of the road & already flooded on the other side.
Last night almost all snow melted & we have rivers running down the hill & driveway.......
High Tide is at 10:30 here, can't waite to see if our road goes under.
So much excitement !
So I will be off line all day & will check back in when we get home.

Still need any Johnny's seed order from Zgoatlady before I can send the order in....

renart, Toony is way purty !
I love the odd colorations OEs & EEs can come up with.
I have a Buff Rock cockerel over Blue Ameracaunas & got a mottled buff/blue, very cool little pullet.
