wanted to let you all know that we are OKAY but still do not have power\
DS got the generator running and there is power to his modem; I'm using the residual battery power in my laptop so may not get to read all the things that have been happening
we have several big branches down off the oaks and the fir in our own yard; a big tree down across the entrance to our little enclave, and supposedly several trees down across the power lines, no estimate of when we will get power back
it hasn't been THAT cold so we haven't even fired up the wood stove, just huddled under quilts and read when there was enough daylight to do so
chickens are okay, survived the very cold weather, huddled together
had to keep the dog mostly in the house since no power for the electronic fence keeping her in
now to go back and read what all has been happening, I have had severe BYC withdrawal

she was posting earlier but since all our cellphones are out of power and the landline phone is intermittent ... have not been able to get in touch w/ her
this is the first day we have even had any internet, all of Yelm is out of power, has been for days, INCLUDING all internet .. just got it back this evening (I mean we got internet connection, no power, PSE says no estimate as to when it will be restored, all of Yelm is still dark, except for the big generators at Wal Mart, only store in town that is open DS went out on his bike to reconnoiter
if all the snow had stuck, we would have probably three feet of it, but instead it would snow for awhile then mist and rain and hail for awhile so snow would get beaten down or thaw, then snow, then wind, then rain then snow then ....well it kept happening, and it would freeze like crazy every afternoon starting about 3 .... icicles would form then come crashing down on our skylight as soon as it got above freezing or got enough infrared radiation from the sun trying to break thru
the ice and snow were so heavy that the big oak arching well over our house, was so laden that its branches were laying right on top of the roof and skylight, normally they are six to eight feet above
of course I have been miserably sick the whole time, sinusitis, bronchitis, headache, blepharitis, conjunctivitis, all sorts of upper respiratory stuff plus exhausted from cough that wouldn't quit and uncertain intestinal feelings, the innards didn't like all the mucus and dead white cells winding up inside of them from what was dripping down
almost out of laptop battery power here, DH's ran out earlier than mine and DS same thing
felt bad that we couldn't help anyone else out since we do have a generator ... could not use our wood stove because we hadn;'t had the chimney swept this year and we knew there were at least two bird nests in it, since the birds wound up flying DOWN the chimney and into the glass front wood stove ! but we just huddled under quilts, the basement which is underground, kept the house about 50 degrees the whole time, since that's basic earth temperature around here
