Ogress. I realize you have some problems to work out around your place and more severe weather to deal with than most but even so I think you are blessed!

God's word says not to covet your neighbors stuff.

Well, I'm a sinner once again. LOL!

Your view is just unreal.

Your view to me would be worth it.
I've always wanted a front porch like yours and build a stone fire place with it going through the over hang in order to have heat while I watch storms.
Figure the placement of extra stone to also block the main wind.
In summer watch the sunsets.

Tailfeathers view is unreal also. Love his place. His log house is beautiful also.

Got to work on my coveting. LOL!

This be " Toony" one of our Easter Eggers. She is most colourful, being almost completely white when she was younger, then the lovely smatterings of grey like someone waved a dripping paint brush at her. Now, she has stolen some of the ruddy red coloring from Rose, and has changed out some of her grey bits for this charcoal black colouring, she is very beautiful! Just ask her.

Actually, the law is if it's inside your fenceline and harassing or preying on your livestock, and you can shoot it without endangering human beings it's a free shot. If it's just passing by, call the game department. They usually trap and relocate native predators seen close to farms and dwellings except for "problem" bears or cougars that have been stalking children. Bobcats are usually a lot more circumspect than that one's being- like CL's Bob: they spray, stalk small domestic animals, and leave prints, but rarely show themselves in the daythime and only by being spotlit/game cammed at night.
I'm google-stalking the bear killer in Idaho that Chickielady linked to this morning, because the whole situation smells to me: I've had friends shoot Grizzlies under similar circumstances and not had problems (raising goats in the Selkirk Grizzly Bear Recovery Area gives one such circumstances) and there needs to be more to that story. I did find a long Year End Round Up that indicates he pleaded guilty to reduced charges.

Not sure what happend there ???

The Problem with Cast Iron

When you learn how to properly use a cast iron pan of any type, the tendency is to want to use it a LOT!

One learns to cook fried chicken, and then moves on to more exotic foods, like fried Rabbit. Or maybe even fried alligator, or frog legs!

My fave right now is a sort of hash brown, made with shredded carrots, onions, sweet potato and regular potato. By adding veggies, you cut down a bit on starch, it adds great flavour, but unfortunately, you are still cooking in oil, even if you use EVOO, it's still oil.

Oh, that I ever got started. I used to eat steamed food in Stainless, but now it's all cast iron cooking.

And, you can make the most wonderful popovers in CI. And bread, but that's not fried.

I keep telling myself I'm only using it until I'm old and can no longer lift the pan, but that's reallynot true. Sometimes I tell myself it's so I get the iron that leaches out, and I don't have to take iron pills. But that's not true either. And trying to exercise my bad arm (rotator cuff issues) is really a load of tosh too.

Truth is, fried food is just so darn tasty (and so easy to cook).

Therefor, I'm recommending to BYC'ers

Stop Using Cast Iron until you are old! (by that time, you won't be able to hold a big pan anyway!) (Stay slim!)

Is there a way to enter a page number to read old posts? I'm tired of tabbing back and waiting for pages to load; but I want to read all I missed this past week.
