hallerlake ~ They get Purina Layena. I also give them scratch and they have free range of my 2/3 of an acer from 8 am till 5 pm every day. I also give them fresh lettuce, bread, tomatoes, corn, rice and oatmeal... and anything else I think they may like.

See thats what I thought, I thought they only layed blue and green so I am stumpped. The guy at the coop where I got her in last September said she was a Amaracuana? So now I dunno lol.  She's a great bird and my daughter loves her so I guess thats all that really matters :love  Here is a picture of the eggs. Soft shell on the left.  And here is Falcon.

yep, many of the stores selling chicks will CALL them Ameraucanas (or Americanas, or some variant spelling); but those who breed to the Ameraucana standard will tell you that nearly all chicks from co-ops, feed stores, or online sources, are more properly called Easter Eggers

especially if they lay green or pink eggs ... or have greenish legs ...

looks to me like your daughter has a very nice EE

OK thanks guys... sorry for blowing up the page. But it sure helps I am learning alot

Oh dont worry, the only thing your daughter cant do with her is show her in 4-H. Thats how I learned, we got a Turken for my son and he loved that Roo went to a 4-H meeting and was told NO cant show him. Poor little guy when we got home he said he didnt want to do 4-H ever. Long story short he did 4-H with goats for over 11 years.. First goat he goat was spoiled rotten but wasnt show quality. Oh well she was the best goat we had in his eyes..

Yes she loves her and thats all that matters to me... I got started with chickens last April after my husband and kids talked me into it. They wanted them really bad. My husband grew up with chickens until he was about 7 and loved it. Althought I never had and farm animals growing up I am a total country girl and always have wanted a true farm, so this was our first step and the kids have loved ever min of it. Now I dont know what I would do with out my girls. Something great we are doing together as a family and we are all learning so much. We got our first set of cornish cross last friday so they should be ready the second week of march. Never killed anything before but the kids are excited to raise their own chickens they get to eat. Not to mention its alot healthier for you and the birds have a better quality of life, no matter how short it may be.

I suspect the "not stopping to help" may be due at least partly to two situations:

people have been warned not to stop for an apparent car breakdown because some low-lifes use that as a lure to carjack or rob ...

people have had insults thrown at them by women who say "I am capable, I can do it myself, buzz off buster!"

it may be excess paranoia, but it's also a sign of the times

I doubt that it had anything to do with your age or shape ...

yes I suspect your right, although in a gas station with police around and lots of people you would think it wouldn't be an issue, and I would never insult anyone, if I didn't need the help I would kindly say thank you for stopping that's for sure!! Anyway, it's all good! Thanks you guys!!

Thank you! we had a meeting earlier today with my daughter, son and I , we had to express, our resentments, amends and appreciations, it was very emotional, but healing, as a family we still have lots of work to do, but, it was worth coming down. The men in his house really liked him and told me he had grown up a lot since coming in three months ago. I noticed it to! and yea, I haven't had many occasions to need help for car issues, but, usually someone stops and asks at least!! anyway, it is what it is! I'm gonna get triple A back!! LOL!
