I am getting desperate for a trip to the sand. IT'S AN ADDICTION WORSE THAN CHICKENS !

Be warned some of my friends are more twisted than me.
OK here is a sample of what we do when we go play in the sand I am the one in the very back with lights on top and down low too. Thanks G-man and G-minus for allowing us to share this.

I am 500 post behind, Man you all are chatty. I have been having a hard time keeping up and it is taking up to much time while I am at work. I will still be checking in but not as much as I have in the passed. PM me if you need me, I am going to become a lurker.

Reimiraa, I totally understand you being discouraged. It must be difficult being at school all the time and not being able to care for your flock, depending on others to take care of things for you. Maybe this summer you can rebuild a nice big strong coop and strong covered run. Pick one breed to work with or just have a small layer flock That way it won't be over whelming for you or the care takers. Sounds like you need to reduce some stress and worries so you can focus on school. You can always expand when you are graduated and are home more. Just a suggestion but I also know how chicken math works.

Stump, Yes, winter in WA is very hard on farmers that keep animals. You have to get out there to care for them no matter the weather and there is more work in winter due to coops needing cleaning more often since they spend more time inside. I think it makes every farmer reconsider. Spending the winter in downtown Seattle sounds very appealing. But we are almost done! I see light at the end of the tunnel.

Hello Washing ton. My neighbor next door feeds the feral cats, and doesn't care that she is feeding raccoons and possums.

When I was a kid, in Southern Oregon, California King snakes and timber rattlers by the coop. Yikes. DH assures me that here are only garter snakes here. ( I haven't lived here for very long)
Welcome!!!!

We live on the other end of Lake Tapps. My neighbor has been feeding the raccoons for years. We've seen as many as a dozen when we are up there at night. It has also attracted coyotes, bears, rats..... Fortunately, we are on 5 acre lots so they aren't close. The only good thing is that I figure she keeps them at her place - which is better than down here! If they do start bothering my chickens, I will take care of them. I won't tell her, though.
