I see it a bit differently.............
Considering how many witnesses were in the room.
Considering a kids back pack usally has quite a few different items in it that when a back pack is slammed down on a desk I have no problem at all believing the gun went off that way with an item hitting the gun in the right way.
The person who the kid took the gun from probably had it ready to fire.
I also have no problem believing when it went off it hit that girl was an accident considering how many kids are in a class room the odds are someone would get hit at desk level.

If the kid had taken the gun out of the back pack aimed it at the girl that would have come out.
I believe the kid wouldn't have been allowed to go home if he had done that.
I see no reason at all for this to be a cover up.

Hello Everyone! I am in Deer Park, Washington, just North of Spokane.... I am totally new here and new to hatching. I've been fussing with my homemade incubator cabinet (it looks awesome!) but really am struggling with getting the temp below 103 degrees. I don't know what else to do as I have a rheostat as well a running a fan. I am trying to get ready to set 36 eggs!
Any suggestions?

Greg, I agree, this could have been an accident, although I still feel it unlikely. However, what my main disagreement with was the REPORTING of the incident. I haven't watched the news or listened to the radio, only read in one of the big papers, and then only a bit. My issue is with the "REPORTS" themselves.

I don't know how many teachers are usually in a classroom, I suspect only one adult was there. The rest were 3rd graders. If you ask 6 different witnesses (adults) what they saw, you will get six different descriptions, so it's even harder to figure out what happened when the witnesses are children. Plus, reporters rarely give the complete story, invariably they embellish, or leave stuff out.

Finally, until an investigation is complete, the police or legal teams, aren't going to release much information at all.

In Summary, what we have is, neighbors talking about the child's family; teachers talking about his demeanor; one teacher who was there for the actual incident, (who may or may not have been looking in that direction at the TIME the GUN WENT OFF, and a bunch or 3rd graders who were probably totally traumatized and wouldn't get much straight anyway. Plus, I don't think any of the children were interviewed. Not much to go on really!

Cute photo with all the calves in the field, but is it yours? Where are all the puddles? A cat can't stand in my yard without sinking to its belly in mud, much less a cow! And there is another strange thing about your photo, well 3 more: The trees are not blowing sideways, the sky is not an ominous shade of grey/black/orange and I think those dark things on the ground below the cows are called shadows, and I'm pretty sure that one of those has not been detected in Western Washington since October. THIS PHOTO HAS BEEN PHOTOSHOPPED!

Your right!! And so this little guy has just been placed in a worse situation. . .when it was an accident!!! REALLY??
. . .He needs counseling to help him understand, if he truly didn't mean to hurt anyone with the gun, why is he being treated like a criminal??? And can you imagine the depth of horror he must feel because it accidentally went off and hurt someone??? It makes me want to cry!!

The problem for me is, that it's REALLY hard for a handgun to go off ACCIDENTALLY the way it was explained. Dropping a backpack, and having the gun go off, and then it hit the girl the way it did is EXTREMELY unlikely. (We have handguns, and they simply don't work that way)

I"m not saying it COULDN'T happen, just very unlikely.

Now, everyone on here B#$%&^S about the media, yet everyone is avidly reading the media coverage of this, or watching on the NEWS, or listening on the radio, yet the truth is still not known. We should not jump to conclusions, EITHER way. (If we want the media to stop all it's nonsense, it's up to us to make it happen, they won't go away if we keep "supporting" them)

The little boy needs to be evaluated for his own and everyone else's well being and safety. Only then can adequate care be given to him.

I too feel for him and the little girl that was hurt, and the families.

(Sorry for the rant - but we simply don't have all the information to draw any informed conclusions)

Sorry I'm only going off what I read on here! I don't know for sure if it was still in the back pack that's what I thought the post had said, if that's the case?? And your right about the media, that's why I don't watch it! So, I suppose I shouldn't listen to those who talk about hearing it on the radio or tv. My bad!

well, hang in there till ya do. I'm still thinking about you and hope that all is well!
nope, not yet, the person I have to see about it, won't be available until mid March; getting harder and harder to make connections with these people
will probably have chicks hatched before I have any news to share
