Ok so Im going to make a file on my puter with BYC recipes and put them all on it. So if anyone has any send them my way OK, maybe if I get lots I'll make something up for the show for all of us. What do you think?
I know I have lots going on but have to do other things to keep me going...

My son will be getting out of the hospital on Tue, they are making him stronger so hope now he call tell DW its over. I know I shouldn't say that but after a class we went to yesterday he needs to for his mental health. I do love the girl as if she was my own daughter but saying that she needs a good kick in the pants I tell ya...
Better go have a great day everyone..
Oh SadieSue see you later gaiter
Sounds good then when ya make em we can sample and tell ya which ones to keep in the book and which ones to use for nesting.

Hi everyone, I'm kind of new around here, although we've had chickens for about a year and I also had chickens when I was a kid. My wife is recently fixated on salmon favorelles and I've had a really difficult time finding any local chick sellers who are selling them. Does anyone have any tips on finding some? I've been checking craigslist and the local feed stores to no avail. I live in Olympia, but I'd be willing to travel a couple hours to get them.... help?

Dana I am so excited that your daughter gets to go to Italy. I spent a week there, back in 1982. My sister and I had a fabulous time there. I hope your daughter has a blast while she is there. It is hard to realize that your job of parenting is coming to an end. It can be a hard transition from mommy, to an adult friend of a very special person.

Yep. It is a tough transition. She has made everything in my life easier since she was born, and I've always loved spending time with her. I do know one day she'll be moving out and not coming "home" again and that is a tough pill to swallow. I'll think about it when we get there. It is rewarding to know that she has exciting worlds to explore and will contribute in very positive ways. This is what I keep telling myself.

Although I will say I won't miss instances like the phone call I got the other day. "Mom, I've got kind of an emergency here. It's snowing, and I have to get over to the dining hall to see if anyone has picked up my afternoon shift and I can't get the key to turn in the ignition." Really Lily? My first thought was, "I live 5 hours across the state from you - do you want me to drive over there and take you"? So, I took a breath... and oh! "Make sure you're in Park, and then jiggle the steering wheel". "No, it IS in Park, it's not working, I've got to get over there, I'm freaking out, I'm - oh, there it goes. Thanks Mom." Whew. Another crisis averted...

to say the least I made it home with Jet. He is a very smart, and active dog. He is going to need a lot of reminders of the rules. But he hasn't shown any sign of aggression towards DH or myself. He is so curious and inquisitive about his new surroundings. It is going to take sometime for him to be comfortable again. I am beyond happy about how everything worked out during the past two days. I met a lot of great people today, and I was helped by so many people through out the day. I was doing very well until, this afternoon, I must have hit my limit, because I got more disorganized and forgetful. I lost my boarding pass twice, and I left my cell phone in the rental car. I had to go all the way back to the rental center to get the phone. I am pretty sure that I have been a dingbat for most of the day. I am grateful that I was able to get on an earlier flight, and I was able to get home about 10pm. I now hope that tomorrow will be better again.

So here is Jet. He needs a bath really bad. He seems to love to have his picture taken.

Oh JB - he is a CUTIE PIE! Good for you for going through such an ordeal to bring him home. I hope the training goes well for all of you. I'll bet you're glad the trip part of the journey is over though!

Thank you! Other than the escapee - everything else went really well! The people that helped me were so gracious. Hopefully you can come to the next one!

My husband took care of the two while I was out trying to chase the first rooster down (I'm certain that looked pretty funny  ) so I just came back to do one of the birds de-feathering. My husband did a lot of learning while breaking down the first bird - but he still tasted good. Teeny, tiny little breasts on those guys!

I think we needed to soak the birds longer in the hot water before plucking - there were a lot of pin feathers left (or little hairs?)

I only wish I had the room to raise enough for all of our food - and meat birds rather than just spare cockerels!

Congrats on the catch!

Other then the escapee.. how was the process party?

with hand plucking, if you take a dull blade like a butter knife and run it opposite of feather direction you can find them all pretty fast. :D

OOOhhh yaaay! I'm so happy! That means my three should start laying too!

Quote:
Yes Dawn, yours should start laying soon! Yours hatched just a few days after mine and Suzanne's girl that she got from me has given her at least one egg that I know of. She got a pretty dusty green egg I think.

He looks like a very nice dog!! I have done my share of rescues too and it is a lot of work, especially when they are older and your not sure of the complete background. So sorry that you had kind of a tough time getting back! Glad you are home safe and sound with your new pup!!
