I think that by the time my DH started traveling for work, that my kids understood how stressful it had become for both DH and myself. DH will work himself to death, and is convinced that he is always about to be fired for not working hard enough. Back then my DH was working way to many hours, and when he was home he was simply way too stressful for someone, as laid back as I am by nature. With DH working away from home during the week, we got to have the best part of him at home on the weekends. He wasn't as stressed about getting to sleep, so that he could be at work super early.

I must admit that as I was watching and waiting for my second daughter to die, that I learned the value of sleep. I spent Kait's first 6 months of life not sleeping for fear that I wouldn't hear her cry, or that she would die in the night. After being separated from her for nearly 3 long weeks of the less than 11 months that I had with her, I learned that sleep was as necessary as the air that we breath. So after that everyone at my house learned to sleep enough hours of every day. I still short myself on occasion, but I will normally make up for it somewhere else. I was also blessed with a pair of kids that really never gave me much to worry about, until they left home. lol But I also knew that there wasn't much I could change by worrying about the kids. I would rather send time on what things I can change, rather than the what ifs of life.

I do tend to live by the Serenity prayer. God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference. It seems to release me from taking on, and worrying about things that I have simply no control over.

It is very scary when your child is hospitalized for emotional issues. I can understand your concern for your daughter. After all we only want the best for our children. I have never experienced the fear that comes from having a husband and father, who is living in a war zone. I do think that the fears that comes from the experience is a very difficult thing to endure. The fears of all the possibilities, even if they come too not much, can and are burdensome for anyone.

yep that's the beauty of home ownership! My kids didn't even go to school here, and I have to vote on this stuff! But, I'd still rather own my own piece of ground then rent a house or live in an apartment, so guess it is what it is!! I just want NO NEW TAXES!!!! LOL!

I'd love some but won't be able to get it until after the 2nd...

Stock freezes pretty well. Just let me know.

Have good news! I haven't been following along as usual since I needed to take a really long break but just signing in to let you know I am a recipient of the USDA NRCS High Tunnel cost share program. Which means the government will pay for 90% of a High Tunnel (greenhouse) to a maximum of 2178 square feet.
Awesome! Congrats, CGG.

Hey all,

Have good news! I haven't been following along as usual since I needed to take a really long break but just signing in to let you know I am a recipient of the USDA NRCS High Tunnel cost share program. Which means the government will pay for 90% of a High Tunnel (greenhouse) to a maximum of 2178 square feet. So I guess this means I better hold off the foreclosure dogs! Anyway, I have faith that this is part of a much bigger plan then ever imagined!

I borrowed a moldboard bottom plow for our tractor to turn over some new growing ground the other day. Was thinking if I got in the High Tunnel Program I would also need to plow the ground where the Tunnel would go but it is also much needed horse pasture and I didn't want to plow unless I knew I was in the program. Well, the plow needed returning and thought this would be my only chance to plow for the High Tunnel so I went on Faith and plowed up part of my horse pasture. When I got in that night I checked my email and found out I got the High Tunnel! Wow, Faith is awesome. Anyway, taking off again. Getting lots done by not sitting on the computer all day so will check in down the road again, just wanted you all to hear something good from me.

yea!! Thats awesome ccg!!! I'm telln ya!!! good stuff!

Geeze I guess I better look into getting a goat or two.... I wonder what the husband will say. Or maybe I will just get one and put in the back yard and wait till he notices??

. I canned for the first time ever last year. I watched youtube and read a bunch of books and taught myself and I love it. Its a lot of work but I feel so much better feeding my kids stuff that I grew in my garden or locally fresh and I know exactly whats in it. It amazes me how much crap they put in food and soaps these days... and they wonder why so many ppl are sick and have cancer and all these crazy things going on.... Look what were pumping into our bodies... Cant be good.

Too bad you cant have goats right now, I have 2 two year old dairy girls that need good homes...

I also love these! I've put in an order for DH to make me one for the southeast side of our tool shed. It's a big, blank wall right now....Basically, it's just a wooden frame with hardware cloth, filled with soil. You have to let the plants get well-rooted before hanging them up...but I just love the way this looks!

I've seen them with back slanted shelves so the dirt and plants don't fall out.

There's lots of info out there about how much better goats milk is for you, and it's because the protein is easier to digest and the fat cells are smaller in goats milk, that a lot of lactose intolerant people can drink it, people do make goats milk ice cream, but the reason you don't see a lot of goat milk stuff and because it's so expensive, is that most goats are seasonal breeders so the milking time is shorter, most goat dairys if they are breeding the larger milk goats don't milk all year round. just sayn oh and I will be experimenting this year with goat milk ice cream and yogurt along with some different cheeses!!
