Good morning everyone. (Yeah, I stay up late) Wind is blowing pretty good right now I hope I don't lose power as I have no other heat source and that could be a real problem with my chicks. Dang, they're growing fast.
Found my camera and got it charged up finally. I had to search for the charger. So I'll get some pics and post them.
Went to the bigboy toy store (Home Depot) and bought some material to begin building the "coop". Prices have gone up I found out. Settled on a 6 x 12 coop that will also store the needed items for maint and of course the feed. Yep, a little large but who knows, the flock may grow. I'll try to post a pictorial record of my progress.
Any hints? How about from you CR?
I've read the books and looked at plans till my eyeball felt like they're going to fall out.

6x12 is not very big... but a good start
I'd make it dividable so you have 2 6x6's that way you can divide out for breeding or introduction.....

The best I can tell ya is GOOD LUCK ! See I hate working with sticks. Cut it off too short or drill a hole in the wrong place and yer all messed up. But with metal I can just weld it back up and go again.
Also Mikey look under my avatar. See where it says "My Coop" click that and you will see pics of 2 of my small ones. Also IF you want to come look at what I have you are welcome to. Not that my setup is anything special but you may get some ideas.

Tried to put my chicks on a medicated feed as was suggested by my vet. Had to shop around because my local feed store doesn't carry it. Tried to mix it with my Scratch n Peck mash. Totally rejected! They kept emptying out the feeder trying to find the good stuff. Now what should I do with about 20 pounds of medicated chick feed?

dont mix it and leave just the medicated feed in there, they will eat it if the goodies are not there

dont mix it and leave just the medicated feed in there, they will eat it if the goodies are not there

mine also empty our the feeder, throwing food everywhere, but there is nothing in there but crumbles, I think they just like to throw the food around. learning process of some sort, some are worse than others. I will toss chick grit on the floor of their box with the mess they made, they scratch around and eventually eat their mess

I hope they don't crack down on the medicinal marijuana here, because if my fibro ever gets bad enough, you can bet I'll be looking into it. I don't recall it being especially useful for pain though; it's interesting to me that it's being prescribed as such. Seems like it would be much more useful for someone with low body weight.

Oh, it works on pain too. One of my friends in an anesthesiologist and had a lab at UW that researched canabanoid receptors and they were looking for a way to separate the medically beneficial qualities from the psychadelic ones. (He'd lose half his audience at the start of each public seminar presenting his research when he would mention this).
