[Chicken Rustler]

Just got home! Whew! LONG two days! It was nice seeing everyone again--and meeting some new people--plus, I sold almost everything I needed to (came home with the Houdan bantams) and lots of hatching eggs--oh and a new pair of American Buffs from Sheryl Butler--but other than that--I was "good."

Got one BB, two RB, two 1sts, 2nds.

And I missed ya for the Geese sign ! Oh well Stevenson.

Wow replying on my own post how lame am I ! Lol well one of the two chicks is doing some kinda weird stuff and we are a little worried first of all it keep spinning in circles, whats more concerning is it will fall over onto it back and trys to get up but can't " most of the time " we left to get some Lunch and and came home at it was on its back kinda gasping a little we got it up and dipped its beak into the water a couple times and after a few it started eating and drinking for a while then the whole cycle repeated itself again they are 3 days old and we just picked them up today is it just stress ? Brooder temp is good plenty of food water Ect.The other chick it doing great so I dunno what's up

I know! I was in such a hurry to get over the pass before dark--that I totally spaced it. I don't plan on being at Stevenson. I wish I could but it's too far of a drive and just too expensive for me to go.

Clean their brooder really well. Make sure their shavings are clean and dry. Sounds like Cocci. Get some Corid for them ASAP.

Will do is that something I have to buy at the feed store ? Brooder is extremely clean all fresh bedding like four hours old ! She's up eating and chirping away currently ! Thanks so much for the reply

the birds are settling in nicely.... the light sussex laid one egg on the ride over.
i had a great time and it was great meeting some of you.

Rei; I missed you, or else I didn't know who I was talking too.

I had a great time, and really enjoyed seeing everyone. I managed miss all the cliff notes about the food. It wouldn't have mattered any way, because I don't know the recipe for small.

I do try making small things, but what ever I am trying to do, doesn't seem to work.

I only started to think about the consequences of buying a set of five chicken, sometime after I was headed home. I must have started to think, because finally I realized that I didn't have anywhere to put them. I have chicks in the house, garage, and a rather un-welcoming group of hens in the big coop. So after I got home DH and I had to convert a raised garden bed into a temporary coop and run. It wouldn't have been to bad if, I had not been in pain before I started. But we got what we need to do tonight for the flock, and It's looks pretty good if I don't say so myself. DH did tell me that he didn't want any more coops, and that this pen was going to b

e very temporary. I still not certain how right he is going to be allowed to be about this subject.

I am looking forward to getting the new to me bator set up and on. I wanted to do it tonight, but I am going to head to bed now. The fact that I have only had 5 hours of sleep in the last 48 hours might have finally caught up with me.



Rain; I wish I had read your post before I went to the show, because they ate all the Baklava. I could have stopped by this morning and given you the first piece. One of these days I will have to make a whole one for you.

You should have told Cheri that you gave it to me, and that i was holding it ransom. We could have taken our pick of chickens at her house then.

Hey yall, and to those I saw at the show, one thing and one thing only, VULTURE HOCKS!! hate em. at least on my birds. blech.

I am sorry for your loss. My DD who was about 16 at the time, used to rant about how much she hated hawks. She would have take a coyote anytime, rather than a raptor attack. She hated the mess that the raptors would leave for us to clean up. The coyotes were at the least polite enough, to take their dinner and leave little to nothing behind for DD to clean up.

It is really wonderful that these potlucks are occurring. I want to remind everyone, quickly, to please contact the show committee ahead of time and get permission/make arrangements. I was made aware on Friday night that most, if not all, of the club officers were not made aware. We do need to respect that sometimes venues have space constraints or contractual restrictions that place a limit on what they can allow to occur. Also, they do pay steep fees to rent the grounds.

It really worked out quite well this time, but in order to stay in good graces we need to be polite guests and ask permission. If arrangements are made far enough ahead of time, perhaps at some of these smaller shows participation could be opened up to a broader audience. So good to see those of you at the show.

We (DW and I) had a great time today. Thanks so much to those who made it happen.
Once again I was told thank you for bringing the food and once again I told them that it WASN'T me. It was the wonderful group of friends I have. I also had a couple ask if we were going to do this again at the winter brisk. They said they want to bring food too.

To those who I didn't get to meet. Sorry I missed you.

And to all others I had a blast and so enjoy these times.

Stevenson is only 5 weeks away Start planning ! I already have my reservations. DO YOU ? ? ? I have way too much fun at Stevenson !
