Did you go and check prices? I just went and looked. Almost $4000.00 for the entire set up. Very cool though. I just don't think I can justify it though...but a person can dream can't they. Maybe I will be like CL and do a home made jobber.

( I know thats the only bad part. I guess I should start saving my pennies now... maybe by the time I move I will be able to afford it.

Think BALUT!
So, I put an ad on CL for duck eggs and I get a response. This man wants partially developed eggs for this specialty Filipino dish. He's willing to pay extra. I think they boil the eggs, then take out the embryos and deep fry them. Not sure. We got a ton of eggs so he's coming over this weekend. We can always put more eggs in the 'bator!

NO WAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT HERE IN THE USA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If he wants to abuse embryos tell him to go HOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whats the difference between eating eggs or half baked eggs and hatched or grown ducks? they serve the same person. one of my friends was selling Balut eggs. grosses me out but to each their own.

I came home to a bit of surprise this eve. Seems chicken math hath struck. See When I got home DW informed me that we now have 2 BR hens. See the neighbor down the road wanted to sell them. They are wanna be's (hatchery). Seems somebody a few miles away bought them and when their rooster started picking on em so they freaked and brought em to our place. When I got home they were in my Quarantine pen.

BTW IF ya remind me when ya see me I can teach ya chicken math. It's pretty simple.

I cant wait till I get a bator.... my fear is I would hatch to MANY eggs...

LOL I had a cabinet bator for ONE season...when the sound of chicks peeping was the equivalent to nails on a chalkboard, I knew it was time to sell!!!

OK SILKIE PEEPS listen up. I was contacted by someone wanting to buy Silkie / frizzles. She would like to order them and pick up at Stevenson. I know this person and have been to her farm. Her animals are very well cared for. I would have no concerns about selling her anything.
I am trying to get more info like how many gender color etc.
If you think you can help please let me know.

Thats what I am afraid of. I live in the city limits and from what I have heard we are only allowed 7 hens.... WELL um yeah... At one point I had 10 cornish crosses, 9 barred rock cockerels, 5 hens, and 7 pullets. The cornishs will be in the freezer by this weekend and the cockerels will be used for canned soup and stock in another 8 weeks. I will be left with 12 (hens/pullets). But my neighbors dont mind. If I had a bator oh gosh I would need another coop.

Hi and a big hug to all of you chicken and ducky people.

I had a blast at the show in Monroe, but I really over did things. I was trying out a different meds for the hip pain, and it was a failure. I ended up spending most of the week sleeping in the recliner. I tried to read some, but I just couldn't get the gumption up to do much of anything. I finally got up today, and took enough drugs, to get the floor wash. Jet thinks it's funny to jump over the plastic fencing and play in the garden space, and then he comes back into the house with his big muddy paws.

He must have rolled in some chicken doo doo. He smelled horrible for a couple of days.

I finally got Jet washed up today. I may not be the best owner for Jet. He does naughty stuff when he is bored. He really needs a more active owner than I am.

I had to go to Home Depot today and get the replacement roofing panels for the chickens run. I took both Jet and Teddy with me to the store. The 2 two dogs wanted to visit with everyone in the store. Jet is a big ham, but he often forgets that he isn't supposed to jump up on people. A lot of the roof got broken when the 2 Willow trees were cut down after the ice storm. The run is incredibly horrible for all of this week or longer. We tilled the run back in Dec,and now we desperately need to get a new layer of sand into the run. When I filled the feeders I have been sinking several inches into the muck. DH is going to go get a load of sand in the morning to make the roofing job much easier. I am going to slip the flock that I got from Heather into the main run some time this weekend. We got the new birds set up in a raised garden bed. with a dog kennel that is working for a coop.

I did manage to keep everyone alive. I seem to have chickens all over my house and yard. I have several types of eggs in the bator. I now can hatch up to128 eggs at a time. I could up that with another 42 eggs in the Hovabator. I do seem to be having some trouble keeping the humidity up.

Toni; I have space in the bator if you get any eggs you want to try hatching.

CR; I have some Silkie chicks that I may be willing to sell. If the gal at the Stevenson show still wants some, these Silkies are going to be very nice. I am not sure that they will be show quality, but they will be very close to SQ,

Oh by the way dont do what I did. My incubator is full full full and I have these stupid eggs, now I have to re think it all..

I have a lot of space in the bator. Call me and we can set up some of your eggs here. It would be a great trade, because last time you hatched the chicks for me. :)

She is not looking for SQ. Said she wants a couple that are big enough to go in with her flock. She is not picky about color.
