Yeah it says it glued so I figured could be used for a nice size brooder... I love how the top is hinged. Good luck I hope someone gets it. I never have any luck with craigslist. I can email 5 mins later and never get an email back.
I'd been sitting down and cutting cage wire, so when I came out to put the Hamburg's second-favorite treat food (after red worms) in their run I sat in the open door to take photos. Elvis is still gorgeous, and gets shorted on treats because he'd rather show off than eat.
I'm getting about 18 eggs a week from the three hens in this pen; I really want to have another pen going, with at least four hens. Hamburgs have a reputation for being flighty and stand-offish, but I think it comes down to them needing more room and cover than some breeds.
Work, work work. I was forced to sit on the warm lawn, minding the chicks in their little cardboard run, making sure they didn't hop out, nor the cats hop in. All because I don't have a chicken tractor. I'd need one made with hardware cloth to keep Button in. So, I just *had* to sit there for 3 hours, baking in the sunshine, doing pretty much nothing whatsoever.
. But I too was "forced" nearly at gunpoint to post myself outside in the 67 to 71 degree warm, neigh unfathomable torturous gentle warm breeze! Oh agony!
oh and we have 5 new Chickies that have come out of the Incubator.
Anyone interested in a Highland bull? We found someone selling their herd and we only want the three heifers/cows and don't want to mess with trying to keep a bull around. These people will only sell them as a package--so we're hoping to get a buyer for the bull beforehand. He's too nice to turn into hamburger, but that's what will happen to him if we can't find a buyer.
Just in case I have not said it recently or enough. I appreciate MY BYC FAMILY sooo much! You have given me so much encouragement over the past year. You also seem to have an appreciation for "hand crafted" by a local guy or relative. Rather than preferring the cheap import junk that is all stamped out and everybody can have one just like yours.
Audrey has slept through the night for 6 nights in a row! I'm hoping for #7 tonight!
We had a nice, low-key Easter. Audrey took a 2.5 hour nap today and I was able to plant almost 20 new trees to replace all of the burned ones...I got my runs raked out for the first time since last MAY! Let the Buff Geese out for the afternoon--they loved it! DH & his parents worked on the fence, adding another strand to the three-strand smooth, twisted wire and created an alley-way for the cattle.
Then we went to the in-law's for Easter dinner. Audrey got a basket full of baby food, a new (CHICKEN) bath towel & chicken puppet/wash-cloth, and a HUGE stuffed bunny from her great-grandma!
Man--she's so close to crawling!
Her first tooth!
We saw it Friday night...can barely feel little points on it...
Sweet potato-face! LOL And yes, her eyes are STILL BLUE!!!
