Just had the Silkie babies out for photos. Not happy having their pictures taken. They would much prefer to be cuddled.
Oh be still my heart! These are beautiful babies!

Nice hatch Dana, between the Silkies and the Seramas.

I wonder if there is a market for chicken feet around here, I hate throwing stuff away (dog eats the heads)!

And a few gooses, and some ducks and maybe even a few bunnies. May as well get it all done at once. Hmm, I wonder, what can I do with those huge bunny feet?
See if your dog will eat the chicken feet. Nice source of gelatin...you might be able to put them on Craigslist for raw feeders.
Not sure about the bunny paws...dry them out and sell as lucky rabbit feet?

Hmm, would you and FireWife Jess and CFlaming (who needs a run) and I like to all pitch in and have Velvett Fog come out and build us some stuff? I want a little low Silkie tractor/home.

We are DEFINITELY interested in doing this but we have a LOT of work for him to do...wondering if it wouldn't take him a whole weekend just for our stuff...Did he say whether or not he could come for longer than a weekend?

From everything I've read, chickens will *always* prefer standing water to nipple waterers; they're too much like the puddles chickens are instinctually drawn to. If you want them to use the nipple waterers you probably have to remove the buckets for a while. They're actually very smart birds and will peck at it just to investigate; it only takes them a single peck to realize that's where they get water from. I did notice my babies drink more from traditional waterers than their nipple waterer though, I think simply because they like it better. I'm sticking with tradtional because I want them always drinking a lot of water so we have healthy birds and larger eggs. HTH!
Mine will choose their nipple bucket over standing water, go figure.
The bucket was a gift from my landlady, she was amazed because she hung it, they came over and figured it out and then lined up for turns. Her own chickens took forever to figure it out, even with her trying to show them.

Hey all, been awhile since I've been around.. But I need to find homes for 5 Serama boys (one might be a girl, (s)he's confused about his/her gender. (S)he has been attempting to crow, she had been pullet-like, but comb and wattles getting a touch bigger and redder than the picture. I don't have a scale, so I'm not going to attempt to say class A, B and C. The smallest of the older three is small but heavy, and the largest is the frizzle, but he's all feathers too, and actually rather light, I think.

I don't want anything for them but a good home. NO BREEDERS, I'm adamant about this. I love my birds, giving up my boys that I've hatched and raised is killing me, especially my Thrall. I really don't want to have to drop them off at the Monroe Farm and Feed, but they're just being too loud for the apartment. I was hoping the walls would muffle them a bit better, and they've done a good job till now, but we can't open the windows or anything, and that's not fair to them. They need sunshine and outdoors and dust, and just to be chickens.

Yes, there are some catches:

1) You must already have Seramas or at least small bantams, so they don't get walked on. Preference will be given to homes with Seramas
2) You have to pick them up, I won't ship. I can meet you if you're within 20 miles of Lake Stevens.
3) They've been living inside, so snug accommodations would be required till they've adjusted.

That's all.. PM me please, this thread moves too fast for me to keep up to replies.

My daughters (4 and 7) handle these boys on a regular basis.

2 were hatched in February, and 2 were hatched the week after Easter. The one that is gender confused I purchased at the Monroe show, I believe (s)he is a January baby.

Thanks for helping me find my boys some good homes.

Arthas - The "big" (he thinks) man on campus.

Thrall (My baby

)

Onyxia - the confused gender - (S)he is currently in a cage with Arthas, and tends to get separation anxiety. Will be happiest with at least 2 companions.

As yet unnamed - yes, those are greenish legs.

And this one - also unnamed (This one is killing me, I am dying to see how his feathering turns out, he's VERY proud, as you can see)

Quote: They are articles now.

You can find them in your profile, it takes a little doing. Unclick all the green buttons except articles to search for it. About 1/2 way down the page.
You can link to them using the "my coop" field in your profile. Like I did

Do you think you have to be a gold feather member? I couln't find it anywhere after clicking off the green buttons.

I don't think so.
I can get to your page, but can't add it to your community profile.

Here's the link to your pages
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/kmhunters-chicken-coop

Highlight & copy the link,
go into your profile,
click on edit community profile,
scroll to the bottom,
to the coop field box(it's the last one)
Paste it in and it will show up under your avatar/name.
