On another note- 10 silkie eggs went on lockdown today! Keep your fingers crossed.

*sigh* What a day! We got rid of 4 girls, bringing us to 9 girls now, though we might still have a cockeral EE. I'm happy with who we have left, but then today one of them went completely crazy on us! She bit a neighbor boy who was holding her on his lip and made him bleed, then while William (my barely 2y/o) was holding her (his lap isn't far from his face!) she reached up and pecked both his eyes like a stealth attack! It was seriously insane and he's got 2 black eyes. See? Poor guy!!!! I don't know what is wrong with her though...do I get rid of her now that she has a proclivity to attack faces? She's a black Australorp

Thanks FRF - We're sure enjoying them.  Although every day also reminds me just how messy chicks in the house are and what a relief it can be to finally get them outside!!!  My biggest challenge in the next week or so will be finding someone to build my coop and run.  I'm thinking I may need a grow out coop and then just for leave silkies I'm keeping in it.  Unfortunately my actor buddy told me it's a little beyond his skill level.  I have the plans for a coop that I think would be perfect for them since it's lower to the ground and has a short ramp.  Then the Seramas could summer in it too.  I'm envisioning a taller covered run around it.  I thought it was pretty cute though!

 Hmm, would you and FireWife Jess and CFlaming (who needs a run) and I like to all pitch in and have Velvett Fog come out and build us some stuff? I want a little low Silkie tractor/home.

If we can work out logistics and timing I'm totally down for that. VF builds some mighty fine coops! Let's see if we can make it work!

What the heck peeps?? Did you forget what today is?? It's kinda like remembering WW2!!! Ok, just kidding! But, I can't help it, every year when I have to write that date, it just stays with me!!

Thanks for the reminder. Mine is a boring story, since I don't know precisely where I was on that exact date, but I was nearly 11 and recent transplant to Las Vegas (we moved from Spokane in March '80). I was incredibly homesick, and here was WA on the news! I probably cried--again.

My grandparents were thoughtful enough to bring us a big box of Yakima ash from their driveway, which I shared with my whole 6th grade class. Probably cried about missing home that time, too.

Thank you sooo much!! Julie's birds make some beautiful girls for sure!!! I just adore them! And they are super sweet!! Calypso is an attention hog and just wants to be held all of the time.. lol
